Handy tip, you probably don't want to say a local, family-owned business that dates back to the 1800's is only worth $35,000. It comes off as elitist and hometown juries hate elitist with a passion. Best coverage was Legal Insurrection since they actually had people in the courtroom: https://legalinsurrection.com/2019/06/oberlin-college-hit-with-maximum… (summary of coverage at bottom of article)

Musk has repeatedly said that inciting violence will be banned while other forms of speech will be allowed. So I think he has a coherent ideology, but it still depends on a judgment call. When Kanye says he "loves Nazis" one could make the judgment he's endorsing violence against Jews because the context involves the history of what Nazis did. When Trump said on Jan 6th he wants his supporters to "fight" to "stop the steal" a lot of people took that as endorsing violence to storm the capitol. I think that's less clear-cut than Nazi endorsement, but other people disagree. Main thing I care about is "covid misinformation" is no longer banned. So Twitter won't ban an epidemiologist who posts a clinical study saying mRNA vaccines lower sperm counts anymore. https://legalinsurrection.com/2022/06/im-an-md-suspended-by-twitter-fo… Bans like that were just absurd.

That's because it takes more effort and time than you're willing to engage with in good faith. Maybe I should bill you the $100-200/hr HN recommends. Anyway here is just the tip of the iceberg. -------- Let's start with the one mentioned by OP that targets teachers across multiple states (California, Oregon, ) https://equitablemath.org/ "In an email sent out by the Oregon Department of Education, teachers were encouraged to enroll in a course called 'A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction.' The course came with an 82-page instructional guide that lists the ways in which white supremacy is perpetuated in math class. 'White supremacy culture infiltrates math classrooms in everyday teacher actions,' the guide reads. 'Coupled with the beliefs that underlie these actions, they perpetuate educational harm on Black, Latinx, and multilingual students, denying them full access to the world of mathematics.' The guide offers a year-long framework for 'deconstructing racism in mathematics.' It calls for 'visibilizing [sic] the toxic characteristics of white supremacy culture with respect to math.' Examples of classroom actions that allegedly perpetuate white supremacy include asking students to show their work, focusing on getting the right answer, tracking student success, and grading students. " https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2021/jun/6/is-mathematics-racist-… "California’s Instructional Quality Commission is considering introducing into…

https://legalinsurrection.com/2022/12/anti-racism-online-mob-bullies-e… Literally seen it today. I don't remember having a week without something like that happening. It's routine by now - somebody got a flu, somebody got cancelled by online mob.

It’s also looking like some of the Bidens are going to jail for what they were accusing Trump. The entire Trump Russia gate was to divert attention from what Hillary / Biden were doing. Oh a laptop was found with solid evidence showing collusion between the Bidens and various countries. Well naturally the same response is to sensor anyone that wants to talk about it and to impeach Trump. https://legalinsurrection.com/2022/03/mainstream-media-outlets-ignore-…

Zinn's book, and his methods have many detractors [1], [2], [3] Have you read any of the criticisms of the book now that the historical record is much more complete around some of his claims? While Zinn makes for entertaining reading, history is savaging much of it. I enjoyed reading it, but the more I read of contemporary sources, the more I became convinced that Zinn was giving us a very selective story without the vital nuance. A university dean admitted to passing out a flyer that falsely stated that the Oberlin student had been assaulted: https://legalinsurrection.com/2019/05/gibsons-bakery-v-oberlin-college… A police officer testified that the Oberlin students had assaulted the bakery employee, not the other way around. The flyer also stated that the bakery had a long history of racial profiling. But at trial the dean admitted that she didn’t know whether that was true. Numerous witnesses testified it was false. A high ranking university employee handed out a flyer containing damaging assertions of fact, with the intent that people believe and act upon those assertions, and at trial offered nothing to suggest she had even a good faith belief that those assertions were true. That’s not an exercise of free expression.

In addition, it is a bit naive to expect a typical two income family that struggles to pay its bill to set up camp in DC or engage in a concerted letter writing campaign to outline their grievances to their congressional representative. For those that do stick their necks out, their alleged corporate-brought "representatives" often tell them to leave: http://legalinsurrection.com/2016/03/ms-state-rep-to-constituent-oppos… .

Isn't it illegal for Israeli citizens to enter the West Bank? [0] Would the same rules not apply for Gaza? Remind me again how telling the Chinese when and how the NSA was hacking them makes us or our country safer? http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/06/nsa-leaker-edward-snowden-reveals… "has divulged information to the Post which showed how computers in the SAR and on the mainland had been targeted by the NSA over a four-year period." Pointblank, this had NOTHING to do with the domestic NSA surveillance he was uncovering. It just gives the Chinese a really good idea of how you're carrying out your surveillance and allows them secure their networks. For all of the security stories about the Chinese hacking Google and other US companies and stealing their secrets, I find it ironic nobody seems to care this country had been trying to locate and disrupt this sort of state sponsored hacking. So yeah, this is WAY beyond what I consider "whistleblowing"

C'mon guys, number 2 in search results after your link: http://legalinsurrection.com/2012/09/cherokee-genealogist-to-elizabeth… In any event, I find it more troubling that Warren does not understand the purpose of a trial, which explains the shocked responses from the government officials.

Growing up in Illinois and going to public schools, I have to say this is just making the situation worse. My wife (who went to the same school district) and I both recall situations where politics were in the classroom. I recall in grade school with vivid detail my teacher saying “anyone who voted for bush is an idiot” and kids in the class becoming upset and the teacher doubling down. My entire time at school (through college) conservatives were demonized. Quite literally, I watched teachers call them evil. Anyone who spoke out would get punished. You could see the unequal treatment. Conservatives are against equality, their racists, they cut education budgets, etc. when have any one here seen positive discussion about conservatives in your lives? think about it. Just last year, during the pandemic, my wife’s younger brother was doing a zoom class behind me. His teacher was telling the students in home economics that “we need to reduce taxes or give universal income to black people”. She went on and on about inequity and how whites were evil. I’m sure some of you believe I’m being hyperbolic, but here’s a near by school district: https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/06/critical-race-theory-illinois-te… This will be just a further weapon to indoctrinate and marginalize. People I know in the younger generations (in their 20s) who are conservatives are scared to speak and have been for years. Now let’s consider something they may…

A bit more factual context: 1. The student "protests" erupted the day after the 2016 election results came in, with a corresponding politically inflammatory element at work in the background. 2. The underlying incident involved an underaged black student who attempted to buy a bottle of wine, was refused, and was then found to have 2 other bottles under his coat as he walked out. When the owner's son chased him out, an altercation ensued and, as police arrived, they found the owner's son on the ground being hit and kicked by three persons, including 2 female friends of the shoplifter. 3. I use shoplifter, instead of "alleged shoplifter," because a guilty plea was entered admitting to the crime and also acknowledging that racial profiling had nothing to do with the incident. 4. Protests immediately erupted and were so volatile that the local police chief said he felt he had to call in outside help from a riot squad. 5. The students who did the protests claimed that Gibson's bakery not only had engaged in racial profiling in the particular incident but also that it was a long-time racist presence in the local business community. (Gibson's had been founded in 1880 and was strictly a family owned business, with the business supporting 3 generations of the family at the time of the incident). 6. The Oberlin dean of students (Merideth Raimondo) appears to have joined in the protests directly, shouting through a bullhorn and handing out fliers calling Gibson's racist. She…

Look at the chart here on existing implicit marginal tax rates: http://legalinsurrection.com/2014/02/cbo-confirms-obamacare-subsidies-… (implicit includes loss of subsidies): Note the rise from 25% to nearly 50% in the ~ $65K to ~ $85K income range, after which it plateaus to around that $96K threshold; add Obamacare subsidy losses and we're absolutely guaranteed a significant impact, unless people's economic behavior has radically changed since the '80s. Which is of course what the CBO is saying, among many other dire things (0.5% GDP loss, 6-7 million losing their employer health coverage, around the same number uninsured (although a lower percentage because of population growth)). Note also the > 100% rates around $25K to $45K, and the steep climb that starts around $15K. That's the big effect I was talking about, except we generally don't count people or families in most parts of the country making $45K as "poor". But, yeah, exactly what's going to happen at that income range is yet to be seen, and at this moment neither of our impressions can be stated to be right or wrong.

Lois Lerner taking the 5th is another conservative bad-faith argument. She submitted written responses to inquiry prior to her taking the 5th, proclaimed her innocence in no uncertain terms, and then even after invoking the privilege against self-incrimination nonetheless gave testimony as to her previous answers that were part of the hearing record and which covered the very issues the committee was considering. http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/05/house-irs-hearings-live-streaming… Her innocence has never been questioned. But conservative media play the clip on loop, acting like she didn't testify to presumably hide information (and she still testified!) "If Congress doesn't act, I will" is another bad faith argument. I implore you to watch the clip from where that quote originated: http://www.politico.com/multimedia/video/2013/02/state-of-the-union-20… Just read the quote and tell me how it can be construed as executive overreach: "I urge this Congress to pursue a bipartisan, market-based solution to climate change, like the one John McCain and Joe Lieberman worked on together a few years ago. But if Congress won’t act soon to protect future generations, I will. I will direct my Cabinet to come up with executive actions we can take, now and in the future, to reduce pollution, prepare our communities for the consequences of climate change, and speed the transition to more sustainable sources of…

Here is more information on the City Journal story, which is attributed to public record requests: https://legalinsurrection.com/2020/07/seattle-trains-white-employees-t… They shared these public record documents with Fox News, which I'm sure you dislike, but they nonetheless count as independent confirmation: https://www.foxnews.com/us/seattle-chop-segregated-training-session-wh… News sources you like seem simply unmotivated to check this story. The Coca-Cola story was confirmed by Snopes (read Coca-Cola's statements carefully - they never claim the slides were not shown as part of training, though they make every effort to imply it): https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/coca-cola-training-less-white/ I cannot find a good secondary source on the Cigna story, though the alleged facts are an entirely predictable result of diversity hiring goals. The WSJ Opinion story is confirmed by Berkeley's own report (https://ofew.berkeley.edu/sites/default/files/life_sciences_inititatve… The opinion story itself was written by Professor Abigail Thompson, an American Mathematical Society vice-president, and in her open letter (https://www.ams.org/journals/notices/201911/rnoti-p1778.pdf) she links directly to the requirements on Berkeley's own website:…
