Recommending this independent journalist's article that pays attention to other colorful characters in this story:

I don't think that it's reasonable to see this behavior as anything but threatening given the location and the ample context provided by ICE's behavior up to this point.
> The ICE person states they will not try to enter and if the clerk touches them, they will yank the person out of the building.
Does that not amount to a threat?
It sounds as though most of these agents are poorly trained at best. https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/ice-unloads
> “The brand new agents are idiots,” an experienced ICE agent assigned to homeland security investigations told me.
> The new ICE officer continued: “I thought federal agents were supposed to be clean cut but some of them pass around a flask as we are watching a suspect,” observing as well that the new guys “have some weird tattoos.”

It's not unreasonable, you can read the NSPM-7[0][1] which is an overarching strategy for agencies like the FBI to follow.
NSPM-7 directs a new national strategy to “disrupt” any individual or groups “that foment political violence,” including “before they result in violent political acts.” In other words, they’re targeting pre-crime, to reference Minority Report. The whole order is pretty dystopian, using loose labels like "anti-Americanism", "anti-capitalism", "anti-Christianity", and "extremism on migration" as indicators of an extremist.

> They are going to define "best behavior" in a way that never threatens their feelings, let alone threatens their powers, if you let them.

The distinction between public and private is obvious to the initiated, but probably not to everyone. e.g. https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/charlie-kirk-assassination-sparks-6d…
With the right sorts of access given by companies seeking to avoid the ire of the administration, I'm pretty sure even private profiles could be considered to be public.

You mean like these out-group opinions that the joint terrorism task force has just been tasked to investigate?
https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/trumps-nspm-7-labels-common-beliefs
These groups and individuals are now being targeted by the federal government for exercising the most basic of their first amendment rights.

Honestly curious how much of this is about stopping people from knowing what Israel (and the US by extension) are doing.
Just in time for them to “finish the job”
EDIT: Found this: https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/tiktok-ban-fueled-by-israel-not-chin…

In the tiktok ban case we know its reintroduction and passong was because it allowed criticism of Israel, at least according to the people that reintroduced it and got it passed https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/tiktok-ban-fueled-by-israel-not-chin…

It gets worse according to this just leaked secret memo:
“The Trump administration is requiring that foreign students studying in, or seeking to study in the United States, pass an ideological test in order to obtain a visa, according to a “sensitive” State Department directive issued by Secretary of State Marco Rubio…”

Which government are you talking about? Like the US banned tiktok because Israel did not like it [1]?
Let us be honest here.. China censors directly. US censors indirectly through the private companies [2] and through covert use of force [3]. If you had a pro-Russian stance in 2022 or pro-Palestine stance, you will see your content censored in very subtle ways in US.

It is surprising how people in US cannot see the disinformation campaign they are being subjected to.

It will still legally have American content, but only propaganda :)

By your tone, I would bet that your cited "writers from both ends of the political spectrum and points between" read the fake manifesto [0].
The (more likely) real [1] one isn't as easily dismissed.

And I was right. This is fake and his real manifesto is here: https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/luigis-manifesto
I was suspicious from the link and “last words” BS and even moreso with the cringe gladiator references. Typical weirdo fan fan material.
standardUser · 2024-12-10
I believe this is the one the media outlets are saying is a fake. Doesn't match the length of the one described by law enforcement and doesn't contain phrases quoted by major media outlets.
This one has been confirmed by some major media outlets as being genuine and matches the description by law enforcement and the select quotes published by established media:
https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/luigis-manifesto
There could of course be other writings by the suspect, and this could be one, but it's definitely not confirmed.

Their source/verification of validity is "trust me bro".
That said, the people publishing this do have actual journalist credentials: https://www.kenklippenstein.com/about
So it's not unthinkable they could indeed get a copy, and if they did, based on their stated values they would publish it.

Ridiculous. He's a VP candidate so these things are definitely in the public's interest and reporters report on ill-gotten documents all the damn time.

Update: I guess someone at Twitter reads Hacker News, because they finally forced me to delete the posts containing those links, a few hours later.
