There are a lot of nuggets of gold to be had around Eastern Europe, cheap (by Western standards) good talent being one. Some 20 years ago, mass brain drain was the norm. Today that is a lot less true.
A potential problem would be that this talent is less versed in modern agile technologies and methodologies. They know enterprisey stuff like Java and Microsoft stacks, because that's what the local employement market consumes.
I remember Loic Le Meur talking about his Bucharest outsourcing team, unfortunately in the context of their separation: http://loiclemeur.com/english/2012/03/who-wants-a-great-engineering-te…
I for one am looking for Romanian Rails/Python hackers to work with :)

There's a great response from Loic LeMeur: http://loiclemeur.com/english/2011/09/the-influencers-verdict-the-goog…
"Time will tell if Google+ will succeed, I am still getting incredible traction and interactions in it (thanks) so I don’t believe the influencers verdict, I was waiting for it to start to show up and it of course did.
It’s a great reminder on how to launch a new service: it’s not about the tech bloggers and writers, it’s about normal people and whether they will adopt it or not. Forget the influencers, the history is packed with services that succeeded when the influencers said it would fail and vice-versa.
No, Dan, your opinion doesn’t matter. It’s the other millions of users that matter, you might be right, but only time will tell. You’re trashing Google+ just because it will get you some attention today."
Edit: And I notice that Google has started to advertise G+ on the home page.

Seesmic's always struggled. From the founders blog in July
I have been struggling with Seesmic for 5 years, pivoting 4 times and not reaching success yet, still trying hard (we just killed a bunch of products to focus on one, Seesmic Ping and monetized it with hundreds of happy paid customers already and a nice growth). A big change.

I've tried the "just do it" approach in the past and now believe its nonsense. Be calculating and methodical, not impetuous.
Do's/Dont's:
Don't work on your stuff on employer time. Make sure you have energy left after work for your project (sometimes that means not being the star performer at the day job). I work my day job from 8-5, and my startup from 6-11 EVERY WEEKDAY. Weekends its ALL DAY developement. Have a product roadmap, release dates, and work your tail off to meet them. Do your architecture design work during the week at lunchtime (off site). Cut anything from your time that isnt helping you meet your goal (ie I dont even drink beer anymore because it hinders coding).
Read this for inspiration (its short):

Finally, only quit your day job when your startup is making your salary.
