I like reading Scott Hanselman: http://www.hanselman.com/blog I also like this one with his series (back in 2008) on coding poker bots but he hasn't posted in a while: http://www.codingthewheel.com/

There was a fantastic series of technical articles written a couple of years ago on building a poker bot: http://www.codingthewheel.com/archives/how-i-built-a-working-poker-bot The series of articles goes into detail on how to write a successful bot - Statistics, OCR, hooking dlls, etc. There is a ton of information that lays a solid ground work for doing this yourself (if you have the time.)

The people who I work with whom I regard as great hackers work almost exclusively in the real time embedded space (industrial automation systems) and don't have web notoriety. Slightly more prominent individuals could include Ted Neward (http://blogs.tedneward.com), Joe Duffy (http://www.bluebytesoftware.com/blog/default.aspx), James Devlin(http://www.codingthewheel.com/archives/how-i-built-a-working-poker-bot… and Dustin Campbell (http://diditwith.net)

Yay. I would really like to see Digg take a swing at this and said as much a couple weeks ago. http://www.codingthewheel.com/internet/could-digg-replace-google-reade… Digg is the dark horse in this race. It will be interesting to see how well they can execute.

Hi, We created this site after trying to learn the theory found in most Poker Math books. Rote memorization of equations didn't cut it -- so we created this interactive site instead, thinking it might be useful to others. Let us know your thoughts! Thanks P.S. The site's name is PokerGym -- the HN spam-killing bot didn't seem to like stories with "Poker" in the title. P.P.S. We use poker-eval (through its Python bindings) to dynamically generate training questions. Here's a nice intro to it on Coding the Wheel: http://www.codingthewheel.com/archives/a-pokersource-poker-eval-primer

Counterpoint: http://www.codingthewheel.com/archives/radioactive-search-hardened-use… Describes how a certain player "ROBCASHFLOW" made himself "unsearchable" by including 0x001F between the B and C of his name.

Finally... this has been blogged about for at least a year. http://www.codingthewheel.com/archives/online-gambling-privacy-iesnare

I'm reading the Codingthewheel blog pretty regulalry. While I don't find this article on Postgre particularly intriguing, some others are good, for instance the one on hand evaluator algorithms: http://www.codingthewheel.com/archives/poker-hand-evaluator-roundup. All this talk is often making me wonder whether good (and improving bots) will take over the world of online poker someday, to the point where it is just a pure waste of money for anyone else than an expert to play, on any blinds level. (not that I'd feel sad about it).

I'm an online professional poker player and I'm a bit stunned by this article. I had never seen anyone talk so openly about the existance and programming of online poker bots. Thumps up to the writer. I'm going back and reading the first article of the series at the moment. http://www.codingthewheel.com/archives/how-i-built-a-working-poker-bot

I'm really surprised no one has yet to mention this: codingthewheel.com is currently going through an explanation on how to build a winning poker bot online. Here's the latest post. http://www.codingthewheel.com/archives/how-i-built-a-working-online-po…
