Poor bank UI crushes startup's bank account. Thanks for posting Seth. Must have been a tough one to write. I can't say this enough, use Zenpayroll. In a prior company I had one of the other payroll giants (Zenpayroll didn't exist 10 years ago). It was awful. We switched from one giant to another to make 401k easier. But in the switch, both companies reported earnings to the IRS. All my employees received notices from the IRS saying they each owed $10k+ in back taxes and penalties. No one ended up having to pay, but when the IRS comes calling, it's stressful even when you're not wrong. Zenpayroll is fantastic. New game, new level. https://zenpayroll.com/

Hmmm ... from the features section: https://zenpayroll.com/#features "Administer medical insurance, HSA, FSA, IRA, 401(k) and other pre-tax benefits through our integrated benefit partners." and "We help you set up a workers' compensation insurance plan that works best for you." I'm sure you could also contact them for more information ...

Surepayroll was acquired by Paychecx (and their customer service was pretty bad before they were acquired). Try ZenPayroll. Nothing but good things to say: https://zenpayroll.com/

Hey there! Just to give some context from a ZenPayroll engineer: ZenPayroll does have splits between multiple bank accounts[1]. You can split your net pay by amount ($100 in Account1, $200 in Account2, the rest in Account3) or by percentage. Employees can even chose to donate a portion of their paycheck to any 501c3 in the United States[2]. Regarding BTC payouts, that's an interesting area, though currently runs into a number of wage laws. Many states necessitate that employees be paid in cash or cash equivalent. Bitcoin is not a cash equivalent (nor are more traditional value stores like gold.) Even ACH direct deposit had to be carved out as an exemption, to give some context on how strict these laws are. It's great to see others diving into the payroll space. There is a great opportunity to help millions of small businesses. I have written exports from various payroll systems to produce NACHA compliant ACH files to upload to banks, every time there was a problem the bank would get back to us through the customer and we would get super weird or vague responses. In the future I am going to ask for the return codes ( https://zenpayroll.com/ach_return_codes) listed in the article, very useful bit of info, thanks!

I'm the CEO of ZenPayroll and I made a comment to the main thread with more background on the company, and our mission. Here's a link: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7265814 There are also two recent blog posts we've made which might be helpful. The first is about the funding, and second is our 2013 Year-In-Review, which highlights what we've been working on. https://zenpayroll.com/blog/series-a-funding https://zenpayroll.com/blog/zenpayroll-2013-year-in-review Hope this helps!

How about one example before I hire you? The US tax rate computation is based on the MIT Living Wage calculator for personal taxes, and ZenPayroll for payroll taxes. http://livingwage.mit.edu/places/0607567000 https://zenpayroll.com/blog/the-true-cost-to-hire-an-employee-in-calif…

From their security page[0]: >The bank account information you provide in order to complete payroll processing is secured using the same technology that banks use. ZenPayroll employees never have access to this information and it is fully encrypted and stored securely in our system. This can't be true can it? Surely an admin/dev has access to the crypto procedures and the key has to exist somewhere, right? At some point the key has to meet the encrypted data and if they are sending ACH or other payments, surely the "inaccessible to employees" data has to be decrypted and sent, right? Is this just layman speak for "Rhonda the Receptionist can't see your account number"? [0]https://zenpayroll.com/security
