Are you sure about that? There's an answer to the very question "What about GoDaddy’s reputation in the tech community?"
"They have overhauled their leadership team and attracted tech talent from the best-of-the-best. We love 'the new GoDaddy' that CEO Blake Irving and his team have created, especially their new approach with advertising, product focus and UX."

GoDaddy appears to be a very different company than it was a year ago, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

From the FAQ about the merger:[1]
What about GoDaddy’s reputation in the tech community?
GoDaddy has been transformed in recent months and is essentially a new company. If we did not like what we have seen, we would not have joined the GoDaddy family. They have overhauled their leadership team and attracted tech talent from the best-of-the-best. We love “the new GoDaddy” that CEO Blake Irving and his team have created, especially their new approach with advertising, product focus and UX.
Though neither GoDaddy’s brand nor operations are being integrated into ours, we are excited to be a positive influence on them with how to make even more improvements to better serve the Web pro community

I was going to post person by person, but I figured a general post with all the info would be a better option. So here it goes...
We're definitely excited about the move. We know GoDaddy may have had a not so stellar reputation in the past, but we're very happy with the changes they've made this year. Along with that, we are very happy to get the funding and resources we need to make bigger and better products. We want to put out better products with the same style and flare, and we can now do it a lot better and a lot faster. Our support isn't changing, products aren't changing, and the only real big change today is that we're getting cake and lunch on the house.
Feel free to shoot any questions at me, or check out our weblog for a FAQ http://weblog.mediatemple.net/2013/10/15/faqs-about-the-godaddy-acquis…

Amazon and Rackspace customers need to install the software themselves (for now). The other listed hosts have made it one-click simple without the customer having to install anything. A couple announcements from major hosts today:

MediaTemple.com has $5 domains right now that will be $5 for renewal as well ... not as cheap up front but cheaper over time. Just signup on the bottom of their page, or check out their blog post: http://weblog.mediatemple.net/2010/11/10/mt-domain-partner-program-5-d… New accounts only, though.

True. However, it's been pretty well documented that it was Media Temple's fault, not a random WP vulnerability. http://weblog.mediatemple.net/weblog/category/system-incidents/1026-gs…

Media Temple Grid service also reported a similar attack, where several DB passwords where leaked, and systems were infected. They reported that all the sites were running Wordpress.

Sounds like there's gonna be some financial compensation according to some messages from MT on Twitter to customers voicing their disapproval at the now 24+ hours downtime.
