The reticulum dev have been trying to quit for years and have been quite open about his own personal struggles.
More recently:
- v1.0.0 was supposed to be the time his involvement is over [0]
- 6 months later [1]
> This is not a temporary break. It's not "see you after some rest", but a recognition that the current model is fundamentally incompatible with my life, my health, and my reality.
- But he pushed 3 releases since his last message [2]
It is like he is trying to quit somking.
I am not sure what the problem is exactly but it seems someone need to take over and honor the fantastic work he has done over the years.

Bring people together IRL.
I think one possible technical solution would be inherent bandwidth, range and commercial exploitation limitations. E.g. I think in a LoRa mesh network, you find those naturally. RNodes and Reticulum come to mind: https://unsigned.io/
Basically, through these hardware/physics restrictions abuse and enshittification doesn't scale, but genuine information does, and social communication patterns and scope resembles human nature/biological legacy better than the global web. Artificial software limitations can be cheated always, like with GPS spoofing, VPNs and so on. I presume, you could build communities around people, whose fates are actually connected significantly. A "killer app" to start off, could be dating, or blackboards, get the cool kidz aboard by using it to exclusively advertise the next rave, etc.. It is hard to censor and will be used for illegal activities, too, but it won't enable anything that's not happening on messengers anyway.

Thanks for bringing these topics up, I find the raft of evidence quite compelling. I also find it quite interesting how much pushback on alternative hypotheses there is from the mainstream scientists. I even attempted to have a conversation with GPT4 about the possibility that ancient humans created the pyramids, and it told me I was being RACIST! Like, what?
The thing that sells me, besides the erosion, is the absolutely astonishing artifacts that were left behind. There is no way I could be convinced that hand-driven bronze tooling was cutting diorite to a precision we would struggle to meet today, carving schists so thin you can see light pass through, absolutely perfect symmetry, and creation of granite stoneware with multivariate surface geometry that we'd be unable to do without a precision-destroying tool change.
I find the tool marks on the partially excavated obelisk in Aswan particularly compelling. It's like they had technology that could scoop granite like warm ice cream.
One person doing somewhat interesting research here and other ancient sites is Ben from Uncharted-X. He brings a lot of first-hand content and analysis of areas many can not access, though it is pretty light on conclusions (probably for the best).
As an example, this geometric analysis of a pre-dynastic vase carved from granite belies the capabilities of a forgotten generation of this planet's inhabitants:…

Good to see recent writings and changes, I had taken from the December 2025 blog post that the maintainer was done: https://unsigned.io/articles/2025_12_28_Carrier_Switch.html

Huge fan of Reticulum, fixes some of my biggest gripes with Meshtastic. Shame it hasn't got as much adoption yet. For those looking for Meshtastic-equivalent things in the Reticulum ecosystem:
- Sideband: iOS/Android chat app (https://github.com/markqvist/Sideband)
- NomadNet: Desktop CLI chat app (https://github.com/markqvist/NomadNet)
- Rnode: Reference node hardware/firmware (https://unsigned.io/rnode/)

Have you tried the Reticulum network? https://reticulum.network
I have been meaning to try it out

It looks like the RNode firmware does exactly what you're looking for with its "RNode Bootstrap Console": https://unsigned.io/rnode_bootstrap_console/
Documentation is surprisingly hard to find, but from blog posts on the site it looks like if you press the reset button twice within one second, an RNode will turn into a WiFi access point and host this website. From there, you can download everything you need to create and use another RNode (including Reticulum, Nomad Network, and Sideband). I find this notion of RNodes being self-propagating really compelling!

Thanks! We haven't looked at Zwave yet, but meshtastic and some other lora based mesh network stacks are familiar. One more interesting project is Recticulum with its RNodes: https://unsigned.io/rnode/

RNode example here, but it's pretty abysmally slow due to duty cycle limitations https://unsigned.io/15-kilometre-ssh-link-with-rnode/

This sounds like what RNode devices for Reticulum networks appear to be able to do. (I haven't tried it for myself yet.)
> RNodes can be made in many different configurations, and can use many different radio bands, but they will generally operate in the 433 MHz, 868 MHz, 915 MHZ and 2.4 GHz bands. They will usually offer configurable on-air data speeds between just a few hundred bits per second, up to a couple of megabits per second.
> [...]
> While speeds are lower than WiFi, typical communication ranges are many times higher. Several kilometers can be acheived with usable bitrates, even in urban areas, and over 100 kilometers can be achieved in line-of-sight conditions.
> Reticulum is the cryptography-based networking stack for building local and wide-area networks with readily available hardware. Reticulum can continue to operate even in adverse conditions with very high latency and extremely low bandwidth.
