Here is True Ventures recommendation list (note: I'm not associated with True Ventures in any way at all). I do bank with one of their recommendations, Wells Fargo, which is HQ in SF and have been a customer there for years. Would highly recommend them.

Here are some recommendations from True Ventures: http://www.trueventures.com/recommendations/
Disclaimer: I am not associated with True Ventures in any way.
However, I have been a long time customer of Wells Fargo and would vouch for them. I love their customer service and have done both personal and business banking with them. They're headquartered in San Francisco as well and are available almost everywhere nationwide. Hope this helps.

I agree, its a coffee chain. It has to be hype and marketing. Does this coffee company have patents on a new roasting method that scales, or some breakthrough technique to save on logistics? It seems like it's only a play on perception and hype.

"We’re also pleased to announce that Bryan Meehan, a good friend and an accomplished entrepreneur, has joined Blue Bottle full-time as Executive Chairman, contributing his significant expertise to all areas of strategy, marketing and operations. Bryan previously founded, grew and sold two premium specialty retail chains that share key similarities with Blue Bottle: 1) Fresh & Wild, an organic supermarket chain acquired by Whole Foods in 2004; and 2) Nude Skincare, a luxury natural skincare company acquired by LVMH in 2011."

Before founding About.me he was a Co-Founder and CEO of Sphere, when it sold to Aol in 2008 for $25M[1]
He's also a founding member and partner at True Ventures which he has seen exits such as: Oddpost (acquired by Yahoo!), Iconoculture (acquired by Corporate Executive Board), MusicNow (acquired by Circuit City), and Centive (acquired by Xactly)[2]

Have you tried looking at venture websites? They often have a job board for their portfolio companies and I know for a fact that startups are desperate for interns

Why? Om Malik is a partner in a venture firm[1] and still writes for GigaOm.
You don't have to obtain a license or agree to uphold any particular code of conduct to be allowed to write about news for the web. You just write, and if people value what you have to say, they read. Arrington even had signoff from the CEO of AOL saying he could do both.
That's not to say that Arrington is completely in the right in this. Many reasonable people seem to be worried about the conflict of interest, so there's a good chance that it's in AOL's interest to dispose of him to avoid worse PR. But I think he absolutely went into this thinking that he could keep doing TechCrunch.
