re: the issues of sharing and reselling, both of these are going to become far less of an issue. With "mediocre" authors like Amanda Hocking (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/01/self-published-author-amada-h… able to make millions by self publishing at a $3 price, we will see more established authors follow this route and eventually weaken he publishers to the point where they must relent on these issues. These are temporary pains cause by an industry being torn up by a technical innovation.
If you look at Amazon's "Domino Project" (http://www.thedominoproject.com/books) you get a sense for what they imagine the future to be. Authors creating books to an audience built via social media rather than expensive retail promotion and being sold for $5ish dollars
As for the other points, I agree with most of the commenters that these sound more like personal issues rather than technical problems.

Selling on other platforms: Not yet. KDP Select prohibits me from selling the digital version anywhere else. Unsure of whether this was a good decision or not, but I'm stuck for the next 90 days.
I did consider using Book Baby for distribution. I still might come march.
Physical copies: I'll be submitting the book to CreateSpace once the designer I'm working with finishes the cover.
Pricing: Pricing is a known unknown for me. $3 is as cheap as I can go while retaining the 70%. Below $2.99 and it goes down to 35%. Should I price it at $5? $7? $9.99? I'm not sure. Seth Godin has interesting thoughts on this: http://www.thedominoproject.com/2011/12/how-much-should-an-ebook-cost.…

Agreed - likely low effect, but we should all do this anyway if we haven't already begun (I've blackholed a few of them already in /etc/hosts just because their sites do things like auto-play video that you can't stop).
Here's a list of supporters for reference:
