Business of Software

thebln.com · Group blog · on HN since 2009

Business of Software is the blog of a conference series, posting talk videos and notes on software entrepreneurship and company building.

What HN saysHN links its talk transcripts, such as the Eric Ries lean startup talk, though one commenter finds a submission sleazy for plugging the conferences.

This is one of my favorite talks but... It was at Business of Software 2010, not 2011. You can get a transcript of the talk if you don't have time to watch the full hour here: http://thebln.com/2011/09/eric-ries-the-lean-startup-the-most-innovati… This year's event takes place in Boston 24-26th October. (I run it) http://businessofsoftware.org/

It seems disingenuous, even sleazy, to submit this question and then answer it by plugging your own conferences (http://thebln.com/team/). (Also, at least as of this writing, you didn’t even disclose the affiliation, though I don’t think disclosure would resolve the conflict of interest.)

Hey Klunger, Dharmesh Shah (Founder of Hubspot) actually gave a decent talk at Business of Software on this: http://thebln.com/talk/lessons-from-the-trenches-in-scaling-culture/ I think he can say it far better than I could. That being said, I think it's something alot of companies go through when growing. It's important though!

It looks like it was written in near real-time. Going through the main site (http://thebln.com/blog/) there are notes for what looks like every talk. If you read it in that context it doesn't seem so bad...

I've started tracking a list of indie developer & freelancer friendly conferences over at my Indie Conference site [1]. On the associated mailing list I'm hoping to notify people of upcoming Call For Presentations deadlines. A few I've found coming up soon: UIKonf presentations are due February 15: http://www.uikonf.com/#cfp Xojo XDC USA has a call for presentations due on Feb 26, though your talk would need to be related to Xojo / REALbasic: http://www.xojo.com/xdc/HTML/index.html YOW! Perth presentations close on 13 March: http://west.yowconference.com.au/call-for-presentations/ Business Of Software runs a call for speakers all year round: http://thebln.com/speaking/ [1] http://www.indieconference.com/
