A well-known example of a zip quine: http://steike.com/code/useless/zip-file-quine/ Compression quines and bombs are a great way to screw up automated systems. Possessing or transmitting them can easily cause a denial of service. From Wikipedia: A quine is a computer program which takes no input and produces a copy of its own source code as its only output. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quine_(computing)

In addition to the rightward arrow, there's the leftward arrow: int x = 3; while(n <-- x) { cout << x << endl; } which is different because it doesn't include the lower bound `n`. And of course, if typing the ">" is too taxing, the "---" operator is equivalent to the "-->" operator: int x = 3; while(x --- n) { cout << x << endl; } A few more goodies in this style at http://steike.com/code/useless/evil-c/ (home of the zip-quine.)

The original parser was written by Lerdorf (source: your wikipedia link). But I don't think any of them have anything to be proud of: http://www.steike.com/code/php-must-die/

Care to share? Or at least point me to the original library? I had found a few things http://ioreader.com/2007/05/03/php-closures/ and http://www.steike.com/code/php-closures/ a while ago...
