I currently run a static website with a shop using Shopify's JavaScript SDK. All the benefits of Shopify's excellent backend and admin interface while still using a performant website that can be designed however I please. Another option is Snipcart, which explicitely works as a drop-in shop for any website[2]. [1] https://shopify.github.io/js-buy-sdk/ [2] https://snipcart.com/

Agree with the other posts here. Don’t write your own store. Shopify/Squarespace/Sellfy etc. are much cheaper and lower risk, at least to start with. From experience PCI compliance and tax rules are pains you do not want to deal with. I’d only ever recommend custom coding if you have some extremely specific requirements. Even WooCommerce on Wordpress would be a better starting point. If you want to tinker, you could build a store using a static site generator like Jekyll combined with a Google Docs spreadsheet to manage the inventory and something like Snipcart [0] for e-commerce functionality (I’m working on a site that does this). Love innovation in this area and will play with this a bit. HNers interested in this might find happiness with Snipcart (https://snipcart.com/)

In https://snipcart.com/ digital products you could upload pdf, for example, and set a price. Integration with Hugo is not so hard then.

I'll put Snipcart (https://snipcart.com/) in the ring. It's nice because it has only the server logic part in the cloud but it's very easy for a programmer to set up and do themselves.

I haven't used them, but I was evaluating SnipCart as an option for adding e-commerce capabilities to a static site. Other requirements made us ultimately decide to port everything to Squarespace, but I've been thinking about turning on a small static site store of my own with these guys. https://snipcart.com/

Not sure if it's the best but I'm currently digging into a middleman tutorial, that I'm almost positive that I read from hacker news at one point about building an ecommerce sites. Hi there! At Snipcart we are currently doing exactly that. We are progressively migrating our Saas from Backbone to Vue.js, and just wrote a blog post that can answer all of your questions: https://snipcart.com/blog/progressive-migration-backbone-vuejs-refacto… For us, it has been a really positive experience so far and we LOVE working with Vue.js. The transition between the two frameworks has been really smooth so far, and I'm sure it can benefit your project too ;)

Hi, I'm a Redux maintainer. FWIW, we're looking at revamping the Redux docs in the near future (see https://github.com/reduxjs/redux/issues/2590 for plans ). If you've got any specific suggestions for improvements, please let us know! I'm always looking for ways we can make the docs better. As a side note, React is separate from Redux, and Redux is definitely not tied to React. Here's a recent post about a team that opted to use Redux with Vue: https://snipcart.com/blog/redux-vue .

I found an easy Gatsby ecommerce implementation earlier this year: https://snipcart.com/blog/snipcart-reactjs-static-ecommerce-gatsby
