Simple Login (SL), Addy (AD), and DuckDuckGo Email Protection (DDG) are the 3 alias email services I use. Both SL and AD can send and receive. DDG only receives. You can disable the sending direction and simply allow the forward service to run. I believe you will be able to handle this technological challenge. SL and AD are free for 10 aliases, but AD also includes PGP in the free tier. DDG allows for unlimited aliases but does not support PGP; nonetheless, it is free. How great would it be if you could combine the benefits of such services? I appreciate your time. SL: https://simplelogin.io/ AD: https://addy.io/ DDG: https://duckduckgo.com/email/

SimpleLogin (https://simplelogin.io) is excellent for this purpose.

If you give out your professional email publicly like on business cards, expect spam arriving within 2-3 days since people will have you in their contact list and if they're hacked or caught up in chain-mail then you will be BCC'd into that chain mail or otherwise have your email in the hands of spammers. For personal accounts, I've heard great things about SimpleLogin[0], AnonAddy[1], and Firefox Relay[2] to tackle spam. It's also worth having both a ProtonMail account & a Tutanota account if email privacy is a concern. Many services scan your email to target you with ADs, like Yahoo & Gmail, so avoid those if you can. [0] https://simplelogin.io/ [1] https://anonaddy.com/ [2] https://relay.firefox.com/

There is SimpleLogin[0] and Mozilla Private Relay[1] as more generic options. I've never tried them as I struggle to figure out how trustworthy they are. At the end of the day, emails are essentially proxied by these products. [0] https://simplelogin.io [1] https://relay.firefox.com/

Relay is a good service, but if you're interested in one with more features I'd recommended SimpleLogin: https://simplelogin.io/. The biggest addition for me is SimpleLogin's log of where the emails were forwarded from, and being able to associate aliases with different emails. With Relay I have to go digging around in my email trash or password manager.

There’s https://simplelogin.io/, which is owned by Proton now, so similar in terms of privacy. You can get it separately, or as part of Proton Pass or Mail
DavideNL · 2024-02-19
Note that other than Mozilla’s Firefox Relay and Apple’s Hide My Email there's also SimpleLogin: https://simplelogin.io/ Also the Bitwarden password manager has an integration for SimpleLogin.

With providers like Addy and SimpleLogin it is possible to use your own domain. > https://addy.io/ > https://simplelogin.io/
surrTurr · 2023-09-23
Alternatives if you don't have your own domain: - Fastmail masked emails (https://app.fastmail.com) - Firefox relay (https://relay.firefox.com/) - SimpleLogin (https://simplelogin.io/) There's many more.
DotJr · 2023-06-28
You can maybe try SimpleLogin. It's open source and can be self hosted (I have no idea how difficult or not this is). Proton acquired them and integrated the product into their own. https://simplelogin.io/

Aliases make spam free email, see e.g. https://simplelogin.io/

i'd incidentally just learned about this a few days ago, posted here (with no traction): https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32782944 , which in turn links out to https://simplelogin.io/blog/simplelogin-join-proton/ they have a limited free tier and a paid tier. i felt a little uneasy about the emails seemingly going through another set of servers (in plaintext?) for the filtering so i didn't sign up, but would love to hear other perspectives.
jacooper · 2022-09-11
I personally use https://simplelogin.io, owned by proton. You get it for free with Proton Unlimited, and you can use your own custom domain for aliases.
3np · 2022-08-25
There is also SimpleLogin. https://simplelogin.io/ https://github.com/simple-login/app AA and SL do look like the two more solid options compared to anything else I've seen so far.
blitzar · 2022-05-31
Consider - https://simplelogin.io/ (anonaddy.com is similar) I use it with a custom domain, which in turn is a subdomain of my regular custom domain. i.e. @myname.com is on my main mail service - simplelogin used the @mail.myname.com. I dont use these services for their 'anonymous' addresses, but for managing using multiple unique addresses. Others have mentioned the apple equivalent. Unique email address per thing in much the same way as you have unique passwords. Emails forward on to my main address.

I'm a happy https://simplelogin.io user. Seems much more feature rich than this service?
spansoa · 2021-09-28
There's a few alternatives to this: https://www.spreadprivacy.com/introducing-email-protection-beta/ (beta only) https://simplelogin.io/ https://anonaddy.com/ I know there are plenty of others, but I use all the above and found them reliable and intuitive.

Adding another comparable offering is https://simplelogin.io and you can set a PGP key for forwarded emails.
sonmicrosystems · 2021-04-21
Even though I'm the developer of a "rival" service [1], it's a good news that more and more email aliases services are created. That means email alias is becoming mainstream. [1]: https://simplelogin.io
dastx · 2021-01-25
Is this something similar to https://simplelogin.io/? If it is, simplelogin is a self-hostable solution. If you're really worried about privacy, this would cut out the possibility that Mozilla might be reading your messages.
decrypt · 2021-01-25
I thought support for replies was available for a long time. Happy SimpleLogin [1] customer here, which has a pricing similar to that of AnonAddy's highest tier. [1] https://simplelogin.io
Pm359 · 2021-01-24
Have you considered a remailing service such as https://simplelogin.io/? Maybe this could be a good enough solution for your use case (i.e. avoiding potential spam).
glokk · 2020-11-14
You can use SimpleLogin [1]. It's available as a web app, Chrome/Firefox extension or iOS/Android app. [1] https://simplelogin.io
achecouter · 2020-05-02
SimpleLogin [1] already does that and their aliases are more powerful. It's also open-source [2], can be self-hosted, and covers almost all platforms. The Firefox relay seems to need SocketLabs [3], a paying and closed-source service. Haven't got my invite code yet but I would not bet on this Firefox service. It seems that Facebook JS SDK also sends user behavior back to Facebook even when user doesn't click on the "Sign in with Facebook" button: https://simplelogin.io/blog/do-not-use-facebook-sdk/ On the Web, it's recommended to use a generic OAuth library instead of integrating Facebook JS SDK. On mobile, this is almost impossible though as Facebook doesn't implement the OAuth PKCE flow.

For me this was from my own frustration: I hate sign-up form and don't want to use "Login with Facebook/Google/..." either as these companies will have even more data about me. I looked for an alternative to these social login buttons but haven't found any. I decided to quit my job as lead software engineer and created my own company that offers a social login solution that protects user identity [1]. The previous startup came also from another frustration (maybe because we are frustrated in France all the time ...) so my pattern would be to find something that bothers you (and hopefully others) and solves it.
