Austin fixing its affordability crisis with more housing supply and MSM paints it as a bad thing. ATX is as great as it's ever been. Samsung continues to expand its footprint, Tesla HQ still ramping up production (plus lithium refinery in Corpus), Apple expanding with new 82K sq ft building, and fastest growing startups (by headcount) are based there:

http://signalfire.com/ is free, as far as I can make out. It looks well designed. I believe I tried it briefly a few months ago when it launched, but can't remember much else about it.

The article refers to this article from May, which claims a 50% reduction in graduate tech hiring since pre-pandemic levels, 25% reduction since 2023

This is a little misleading. The data they quote is based on their previous article[1], which just uses this analysis[2] provided by a VC company. Funnily enough the same VC company put a seperate clickbaitish article just a year before that one, claiming the exact opposite findings (about startups ditching SV).
I would guess a lot of these annual trends are just random fluctuations in their dataset, though to be honest I wonder how they're even trying to estimate this kind of information.

I thought that the report that was being screenshotted a few weeks ago on the relative movements of staff between the top AI labs[0] would make for a good companion data point. Except now that I look at it, Meta didn't even make it to the graph :-/
