Programming Puzzler

programming-puzzler.blogspot.com · Personal blog · on HN since 2009

A programmer writes about Clojure, Racket, and Scala, comparing languages and data structures and questioning logic programming.

What HN saysHN commenters cite it for its critique of logic programming and its Racket vs Clojure comparison, which was referenced in the Rhombus proposal.

Yes but people are still interested in it. For example in the Rhombus Proposal (Formerly Racket2) there is a section on generic collections, with a link to a blog post comparing Racket and Clojure from 2010. 1. https://github.com/racket/rhombus-prototype/blob/master/resources/stat… 2. http://programming-puzzler.blogspot.com/2010/08/racket-vs-clojure.html…

Hi, thanks for your response. I did a few years of work for my PhD thesis in Prolog but since then I'm a little disenchanted. A small overview as to why can be seen here: http://programming-puzzler.blogspot.com/2013/03/logic-programming-is-o… I'm also trying to put as much logic as possible into SQL (because it's declarative and can easily be reordered) but eventually you have too many conditionals to handle it in SQL, especially when high level parameters are involved that change whole queries and you'd have therefore conditional subqueries that can't easily be joined (e.g., flight paths, like ADA, ABDA, ABDBA, ZADAZ) where A/D is source/destination of the passenger.
