Plancast is more than just conferences, but you can find out a lot about what's going on through the site. Especially if you follow the right people: http://plancast.com/ There are also various public Google Calendar calendars that specialize in different industries, etc. For example, there's one that is just AI/Machine Learning conferences.

There is also http://plancast.com and http://lanyrd.com (though the latter is aimed more at conferences). I haven't found either to be that effective in promoting an event, but since it's free to create an event, it may not hurt. Facebook Events may have its drawbacks (the login wall), but I've found that sharing an event via Facebook - as opposed to email with Evite, Eventbrite, Meetup, etc - can be slightly more effective. That's just my experience though.

I find conferences through others in the same industry: http://plancast.com http://lanyrd.com Mostly it is just through the grapevine http://twitter.com and http://meetup.com, knowing lots of people within the industry helps.

http://Plancast.com, which launched last November, does exactly this.

http://www.meetup.com is an obvious one. Another cool one is http://www.plancast.com. This allows you to see what meetups people in your network are going to.

Keep getting surprised how much we have going on here in Louisville, KY[0]. Though mentioning I'm from KY elsewhere has led to comments such as "You have computers? And shoes?" [0] shameless plug, if you're in the area next Wed: http://plancast.com/p/btcm

I wish there was something like that. I have hooks into a bunch of sources so my plancast has a bunch around the bay area: http://plancast.com/zbowling

Meanwhile, I hold Office Hours weekly at the Alembic in San Francisco, something I've been doing on and off since 2008[0] (and based off of a friend's office hours, same time same place, which he starting holding in 2007). If you'd like free, abrasive, honest advice, suggestions, etc, feel free to show up: http://plancast.com/wooster Bonus: it's free. Interesting people sometimes show up (other than myself, of course). [0] Started at Coupa Café in Palo Alto.
