I'm looking for something new, primarily working on backend systems but I'm not particular. I consider myself a generalist (my blog at https://www.petekeen.net illustrates that pretty well). I'd love to work in fintech, developer tools, etc.

Keeping read-only archives of the retired bug tracker seems like the right thing to do - even if that had to be done with an external archiving tool (top hit on google: https://www.petekeen.net/archiving-websites-with-wget)

I am simply pointing out that unlike what is covered in the Stripe documentation, a merchant is not absolved of PCI compliance by simply implementing Stripe.js in their HTTP response & turning on SSL/TLS. The PCI DSS and related materials cover this fact quite well. This "dispute" if you could even call it that came about when Pete Keen inadvertently also over simplified the compliance issue in one of his posts, for which he has since rectified:

The only ones I can vouch for are Mastering Modern Payments [1] and Sketching with CSS [2] - both of which have been enormously helpful.
A few more thoughts: these authors seem like a very reasonable set of people, if you had issues with their books they'd probably give you a refund.
Personally, I'm glad that we're done with the days of going to the bookstore and the technical section being dominated by 3 inch thick books that regurgitated the standard documentation of a programming language to pad things out.

For any Ruby on Rails developers in the UK who may now be jumping into Stripe for the first time because of this, Pete Keen has just released (or is releasing today) a new book called Mastering Modern Payments (http://www.petekeen.net/mastering-modern-payments) which focus on Stripe and Rails.
