Andreas Mueller, a scikit-learn core developer, writes about machine learning, kernel methods, and Python tools like the word cloud generator.

What HN saysHN links it mainly for his scikit-learn machine learning cheat sheet, a decision-flow chart for choosing methods, and his post on the No Free Lunch theorem.

There are various cheat-sheets/decision trees to suggest which machine learning method e.g. http://www.saedsayad.com/data_mining_map.htm http://peekaboo-vision.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/machine-learning-cheat-s… https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/machine-learn… However, if you want to really understand how things fit together you're probably best reading one of the standard intro textbooks: Murphy's Machine Learning, Bishop's Pattern recognition and machine learning, Hastie et al's The Elements of Statistical Learning, or Wasserman's All of statistics. Or Barber's textbook, which is freely available online and has some nice mind-maps/concept-maps/trees at the start of each section: http://web4.cs.ucl.ac.uk/staff/D.Barber/pmwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Brml.HomeP…

Have you seen this -> http://peekaboo-vision.blogspot.com/2013/01/machine-learning-cheat-she… ... Specifically the image at http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ME24ePzpzIM/UQLWTwurfXI/AAAAAAAAANw/W3EETIro… It seems like a good start. There are myriad resources but none that I can think of that cover all the different problem types. What are you interested in specifically?

This looks clipped in my browser, but you can see the original diagram here: http://peekaboo-vision.blogspot.com/2013/01/machine-learning-cheat-she…

In the machine learning cheat sheet [1], one of the boxes is "tough luck". [1] http://peekaboo-vision.blogspot.com/2013/01/machine-learning-cheat-she…

Thanks. I also found a blog post that figured the diagram, with some background infos: http://peekaboo-vision.blogspot.de/2013/01/machine-learning-cheat-shee…

I did a another post on that one. http://peekaboo-vision.blogspot.de/2013/01/pystruct-more-structured-pr… The post still needs some more detail, though.

It's currently down - is it the same one discussed at some length a year ago? https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5831512 Here are some other resources for machine learning, not necessarily restricted to the algorithms implemented in SciKit: http://eferm.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/cheat3.pdf http://peekaboo-vision.blogspot.ca/2013/01/machine-learning-cheat-shee… http://rise.cse.iitm.ac.in/wiki/index.php/Introduction_to_Machine_Lear… http://mlg.eng.cam.ac.uk/creed/Notes/ML_Compendium.pdf
