I probably tried to use a pirated version of Dreamweaver. But I loved HomeSite. https://nick.typepad.com/blog/2009/06/homesite-discontinued.html

> As the original author of GtkMozEmbed I'd like to say that this is way too little, way to late. Mozilla has historically been very much against anyone trying to use the engine in anything other than the firefox app. Your comment reminds me of a 15 or 20 year old remark from Feeddemon and Topstyle author (Nick Bradbury) about how he gave up baking firefox preview into his CSS editor. https://nick.typepad.com/blog/2008/03/can-mozilla-be.html I loved Topstyle. It was the first editor I invested time into (after Visual Basic for windows 3.11 in the 90's but I was a kid, not a professional or a student).

Not been writing XML parsers, but I remember Nick Bradbury the creator of the FeedDemon fame wrote about it a lot 'back in the days', * https://nickbradbury.com/2006/09/21/fixing_funky_fe_1/ * http://nick.typepad.com/blog/2004/01/feeddemon_and_w.html * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FeedDemon

I feel like Dave Winer was talking about Rivers earlier than that. I found a reference back to May 2005 from Nick Bradbury creating of FeedDemon http://nick.typepad.com/blog/2005/05/river_of_news_1.html

http://nick.typepad.com/blog/2013/03/my-plan-for-feeddemon.html > First, open-sourcing FeedDemon sounds nice, but I don't see it working. I use a number of commercial third-party components which can't be open-sourced,

There were apps and services. They starting shutting down. Never actually mattered. Not to me at least. Until a few were killed, like Google Reader, and I started understanding the frustration and sometimes disappointment shown by some of the users and fans. I feel the same now. This is one of the few services other than Gmail that I use(used) from Google's shop. Will have to settle for a good alternative now. I guess I would rather to go a paid solution. It's for the same reason that I am thinking of this move that I went to Pinboard from Delicious for - advertisements were not my worry, it was the chance being shut down. Was Google Reader bringing any revenue to Google? I mean I never saw any ads in there, so I doubt it but some of you might be knowing better. Not sure they have killed for just being out there not bringing any money home or they will be focussing on Google Currents now? But stuff like this http://nick.typepad.com/blog/2013/03/the-end-of-feeddemon.html is more sad than the news itself :(
