> And action cable is a great example of everything that's wrong with Rails - kludge together a frankenstein solution to tick a feature box. I do not know a single production user. The whole point of ActionCable was that it is being used by Basecamp: https://medium.com/@dhh/rails-5-action-cable-demo-8bba4ccfc55e

That happens to be one of the quotes in one of the related articles Medium suggests at the bottom that's worth the read: https://medium.com/@dhh/deleting-uber-is-the-least-you-can-do-30c06011…

I think it's a really good path to follow and would love to do the same one day. You might like this article if you haven't already seen it. It's been doing the rounds lately. https://medium.com/@dhh/reconsider-41adf356857f As for a term... I can't think of one apart from "business". :P Heh. edit: Just noticed someone else already commented with a link to that article! Ha!

I hope DraftKings and FanDuel followed the advice of a post on HN a few days ago [1] and made (i.e., didn't re-invest) some money along the way. Something tells me they're going the way of online poker in the US very soon. [1]: https://medium.com/@dhh/making-money-along-the-way-did-dropbox-and-eve…

This was the article that gave me that impression iirc - https://medium.com/@dhh/air-quality-matters-but-dont-trust-foobot-on-i…

I know a certain framework creator that will be all over this - and has been vocal on twitter about it. I went looking, this seems like a pretty good air quality monitor: https://www.amazon.com/AirVisual-Quality-Monitor-Accuracy-Particle/dp/… (~$400) There are cheaper ones too; but do your research, as accuracy (and ideas about what constitutes accurate) can vary from manuf. to manuf. https://medium.com/@dhh/air-quality-matters-but-dont-trust-foobot-on-i… also apparently, a box fan + filter ain't so bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH5APw_SLUU

"If the idea does not really excite at least some people the first time they hear it, that’s bad." Reconsider(https://medium.com/@dhh/reconsider-41adf356857f)

I am quite baffled by all this. I heard of Famo.us, but didn't give it more than 1 thought. I thought it was just another framework, I would have never thought that they had employees, let alone that many and raising that much money. I watched the video in the article, and I can't believe that people are throwing money at someone with a pitch like that. I feel like everything about Famo.us is all the wrong things that were described in the Reconsider article that was posted the other day https://medium.com/@dhh/reconsider-41adf356857f
