I highly recommend LunchMoney (https://lunchmoney.app/). It's built by a solo developer who is very responsive and continues to make the app great. Lots of automation and ability to create custom classification rules. I've been happy for the past 3 years.
I've also heard good things about CoPilot (https://copilot.money/) but have not had the chance to experiment with it yet.

I highly recommend https://lunchmoney.app/, best ive ever used!

In past Ask HN threads I've seen recommendations for Lunch Money (https://lunchmoney.app/) and You Need A Budget (https://www.ynab.com/). I can't personally speak to them as I use GnuCash, but I don't recommend it for you because it does not do automatic sync as you requested.

Lunch Money is a beautiful little independent app for personal finances: https://lunchmoney.app/
Won't do lots of complex stuff like investment strategy and estate planning, but covers all the essentials for a personal / family budget.
Gives you a good overview of your spending, net worth over time, and lots of charts and querying functionality. Made a big difference for me. Before I was spread across a bunch of Google sheets that I rarely updated.

For those looking for alternatives Lunch Money is a great replacement.

I use Lunchmoney (https://lunchmoney.app/) and have enjoyed it for the past year. It takes a rules based approach to transaction management and features your usual budget and net worth tracking. It also has a pretty good API you can use to further integrate transactions with other systems (I’ve done some work to forward some transactions to a Notion Database).

Try Lunch Money. Great multi currency support.
https://lunchmoney.app/
It doesn’t work for my brain but ynab also supports multicurrency.

Try LunchMoney as an alternative to Intuit. Solo founder, great support, great roadmap and delivery. She uses Plaid so the integration is similar to Mint.

Another option in this space is Tiller (https://www.tillerhq.com/). They seem well-established, and offer some spreadsheet templates for plug-and-play solutions to some common budgeting scenarios.
If you don't care about spreadsheets specifically -- if you're just looking for scriptable access to your financials -- Lunch Money (https://lunchmoney.app) has a public API. They'll also be opening the beta of rollover budgeting any day now, which has me excited!

Jen built https://lunchmoney.app (a budgeting and personal finances tracking app with a great UX) all by herself.

I used to track everything in a spreadsheet manually and early last year finally found time to turn it into an app which pulls in my credit card transactions automatically. I still input lots of expenses manually since I'm living in a primarily cash-based society and it works great for my needs.
Not sure what your idea of "sophisticated" is, but it's definitely the opposite of a terminal-based app. It's built on a modern web stack and it's called Lunch Money (https://lunchmoney.app)!

Best I've found so far is https://lunchmoney.app

First, I'll say +1 to the other commenters here encouraging you to develop the idea on your own first before trying to bring in other people.
But let's say you're going to ignore all of that and still try to find a partner first. Your advertisement gives me zero confidence that you have an actual business here. Your idea is: a personal finance budgeting tool, but "fun and easy to use" and based on how you personally manage your finances. I have so many questions! And as a former Product Manager you should have answers:
• What specifically is wrong with existing personal finance tools on the market? What is the killer feature that makes yours better? Have you tried https://lunchmoney.app/ ?
• Let's see those wireframes! User journeys! Something! Right now I'm left with the assumption that you've sketched out some login dialogs and a transaction list but haven't thought beyond that.
• Where's your user research? If you're looking for a cofounder, that implies that you have a thing that needs to be built. Do you know what that thing is? Have you validated with real people that this is a real problem they have? How many user interviews have you done? Again, my assumption is that you've done none of this.
• What will be your role in the business? How do you propose that you earn your 50% of the equity? Remember that "idea guy" is worth nothing... you need to bring sales chops, key relationships / industry credibility, recruiting ability, investment money, or some combination…

I have heard Lunch Money is great → https://lunchmoney.app/

I’m Canadian and have been using https://lunchmoney.app/ for tracking with Plaid integrations.
They have an api and I got llm to write a CLI for it.
That way agent can pretty much pull the data it needs or wants.
One thing I also had it do is build up a series of rules for tagging which then I run a cron for once a day.
Every once in a while I just ask it to look over the rules and make new ones for uncategorized transactions.
(As a side note I think having LLM “memoize” a task through a rule engine or code is really nice pattern)
But once you have the cli with query you can pretty much ask the agent to do anything.

I was looking for a budgeting app about a month ago to replace my old usage of Mint and came across Lunch Money, been happy with it so far.

+1 for https://lunchmoney.app/
I found them after Mint was discontinued and CreditKarma made it impossible for me to set up my account, while I looked into other options which have even been mentioned in this thread.
LunchMoney's multi-currency support and easy API (https://lunchmoney.dev/) were killer features for me, however, since they allowed me to develop a personal solution to also keep track of my non-USA accounts.

Have you tried Lunch Money (https://lunchmoney.app/)? I found it through HN. I've been very happy with it.
I think their discord community can help you with your specific questions.

> A while back there was a tread in here where someone had an inexpensive one-time license mac software, but I cannot find it.
I think you are looking for https://www.banktivity.com/
It feels a lot like Quicken which isn't a paradigm that works well for my brain and I moved to https://lunchmoney.app + a small app that consumes the API, does some transformations and exposes to Google Sheets' =IMPORTDATA formula.
This gives me: * full featured transaction syncing that I don't need to worry about * a nice UI for bulk editing, tagging, etc. * a programatic way to perform transformations and add features Lunch Money doesn't have: I like to use categories and tags in concerts to give me per trip breakdowns of expenses by category of my travel * the flexibility of a spreadsheet for reporting and quick iteration.
A very new player that I haven't tried fully yet is https://finwiseapp.io/

I’m a huge fan of https://lunchmoney.app. Small (1?) team and gets the job done for me.

I used YNAB before but much prefer LunchMoney[1] (the thing that got me to switch initially was better multi-currency support, since I generally make money in one currency, hold it in another, and spend it in a third). My referral link[2] will get you 1 month free ;)

I’m a huge fan of Lunch Money. It’s made by a small team that truly understands the feature-set needed for a full personal finance app. I’ve been on it for 4 years and couldn’t imagine using anything else.

This is was build by one-person, I think now a community helps her to maintain it, I might be wrong about the latter

I have been trying out Lunch Money. It's pretty much a YNAB clone but seems to be more developer focused (uses mono space fonts and has API). It uses Plaid just like YNAB, but somehow auto import seems to more reliable on some banks.

Disclaimer: I don’t own this business. Just a faithful acolyte proselytizing the gospel of LunchMoney! :)
The community and app that Jen (the founder) has built is really impressive on multiple levels.
