My favourite of Shannon's theorems:
Shannon’s Juggling Theorem
(F+D)H=(V+D)N
F is the time a ball spends in the air (Flight)
D is the time a ball spends in a hand (Dwell), or equivalently, the time a hand spends with a ball in it
V is the time a hand spends empty (Vacant)
N is the number of balls
H is the number of hands

Cuckoo Hashing: http://www.lkozma.net/cuckoo_hashing_visualization/
"An elegant method for resolving collisions in hash tables... It has the rare distinction of being easy to implement and efficient both in theory and practice."
It does an amazing job of packing values into N hash tables so there's very little dead space but lookups are very fast.

Hey lkozma, I was just going through your site and see that you have been giving ideas away for years (literally).
http://www.lkozma.net/ideas.html
That's pretty awesome.
I am doing a podcast about various ideas/projects/stuff that HN members are working on, and you definitely seem like you fit the bill of characters I would enjoy interviewing.
Interested in being on one of the episodes? I think the community would love to hear more about your some of your ideas.
I put up the first episode and am pivoting based on the feedback I got from the HN community:
http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1379942
I am also rendering a second episode, coming out shortly - in the new format (i.e. mainly discussing ideas and not news).
If you are interested, email me: marc {at} ideatin {dot} com
Thanks.
P.S. Was looking for your contact info on your blog and couldn't find it :|

If you're talking about this site http://www.lkozma.net/ , I think you already have a very good eye for optimization. So congratulations!
I would focus on selling yourself, not selling something. Your Pagerank should help you speak with more influence about subjects that you are an expert on, and then, use that expertise to get jobs, consulting, funding, grants or get published.

Probably the best I've seen is the same idea applied to anonymous wikipedia edits: http://www.lkozma.net/wpv/ Not sure if this has been posted.

I found this pretty clear and it includes an interactive visualization:

May I add one that I made?
Illustration of QuickSort and MergeSort as two sides of the same coin:
http://lkozma.net/images/sort/duality.pdf
I find this somehow both obvious and counter-intuitive, and usually the two algorithms are not presented in this way, as duals of each other.
I wrote up this view in more detail, but the figure above should be self-explanatory:

Reminds me if the work from @lkozma in 2007, http://www.lkozma.net/wpv/

A neat interactive visualization http://www.lkozma.net/cuckoo_hashing_visualization/
Edit: as child comment points out, this is a visualization of normal cuckoo hashing, not cuckoo++ that this paper describes.

One complaint I've heard is people looking for restaurants and finding 4-5 star rated McDonalds. Seems ripe for PCA or something. There are a ton of examples of this sort of analysis too, especially since Netflix made their datasets available. Here's the first paper I found: http://www.lkozma.net/mlsp09binary.pdf

Interesting stuff, by the way.

How about letting me put my own referrer ID in it Mr. laszkozm-20 ;-)
Looks good to me (I like how it is succinct and not gawdy), hope it catches on. True suggestion would be to make the "get your own" link point to http://www.lkozma.net/bookbox/ instead of http://www.lkozma.net/bookbox/index.php?mx=8&id=0 because the latter has a bunch of books in the box already.
