A more recent test from last year still has not great latency numbers for Alacritty: https://www.lkhrs.com/blog/2022/07/terminal-latency/

I have more. You can keep rolling the dice on https://indieblog.page/random and eventually you'll stumble across some pretty sites. Usually the nicest ones are from frontend / design engineer types of people. EDIT - oh and the sites in the internet phone book! https://internetphonebook.net/ as well as browsing screenshots at https://personalsit.es/

I've been into the "personal website" world as well recently, and one thing I've noticed is a lot of personal websites end up linking to each other, or have a "Blogroll" [0]. This pretty much acts as an aggregator to point you to other sites that might be similar to the author's.
Personally, I've just been keeping a running list in my notes for cool personal sites I find / subscribing to the RSS feed if it has one, mostly discovered from exploring the interlinking web in this space.

See e.g. https://www.lkhrs.com/blog/2022/07/terminal-latency/
On a slower machine, 100ms latency is achievable, which becomes perceptible (not yet annoying). Output speed can be visibility sluggish if you add too much highlighting and stuff.
I haven't touched iTerm for several years; maybe the modern versions are intrinsically faster, and modern hardware is definitely much.faster, so this could have become imperceptible.

Block the domain?

Your benchmark is more than 6 years old, on a 2014 Macbook, with a strange choice of terminals. LWN's article on the subject is almost as old, but with a better comparison: https://lwn.net/Articles/751763/ (2018)
For a recent take, though by one of the competitors, see https://tomscii.sig7.se/2021/01/Typing-latency-of-Zutty
> TL;DR; terminal.app on macOS is typically the fastest.
Even on macOS, that's probably not true, at least nowadays. See https://www.lkhrs.com/blog/2022/07/terminal-latency/ (2022)

What part of keyboard centricity is broken in a GUI NeoVim client?
Also terminals vary significantly in input latency (though you might mean something else with "usage" latency), some higher than those of a GUI app https://www.lkhrs.com/blog/2022/07/terminal-latency/

performance
The latency of iTerm has traditionally been much worse than Terminal.app. It got a bit better with GPU rendering, but it still trails behind Terminal.app quite a bit.

I tried iTerm for a while because Terminal.app does not support true color. But the difference in latency is definitely noticeable to me.

Probably not. There are terminals with surprisingly high latency, even on modern hardware.
See here for examples of ~100 ms of local latency:
