https://old.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/ is a great community with lots of resources as well. Check the sidebar and wiki there.
Also, if you are into Docker, I love the images hosted by these guys. https://www.linuxserver.io/

Nice! I recently wrote a blog article about home-hosting on a RPI4 using kubernetes (https://kubesail.com/blog/k3s-raspberry-pi).
Such a bright future in home-hosting - really looking forward to seeing the movement grow! The https://www.linuxserver.io/ community is pretty great re: home-hosting apps as well.

This is well thought-out and quite well documented: https://github.com/just-containers/s6-overlay
There's a huge community https://www.linuxserver.io/ for people building "home server" containers that all use the s6-overlay, hundreds of examples there. They have a lot of tutorials and a very busy Discord, Reddit, etc with all levels of experience from container developers to people who don't program and are just getting into Docker. I run a bunch of these containers myself and am pretty happy with how adaptable they are.

If you're curious where these tools might be used, one place is it's a popular init system for containers, notably https://www.linuxserver.io/

Linux Server did a nice blog post about netbootxyz (specifically about their docker container, but it's a good read nonetheless)

But, I do understand that it is otherwise difficult to reach Iranians and not hand their government a list of urls to block. But I think my reach is useless. If your reach is not, then maybe you'll also reach the Iranian government easily.
Moreover, should I run this from my personal server? Could it become a target for nefarious stuff? I feel the same as I do when I think about running a TOR exit node. I want to be like my hero Edward Snowden but... I'm afraid of the stuff that gets associated with my IP address.
Also, a https://www.linuxserver.io/ Docker image would be cool ;)

Check out https://home-assistant.io/ and consider a Plex / Kodi / Emby server.
I based my home server setup around docker images, sort of like this arrangement:

I've been using Duplicati with good success.
I also wrote a tutorial on setting it up to work with AWS S3:

So sad for those that virtualise firewalls.. Although they also seem to ignore many requests to include 8021q in the kernel, and bridging just mashes all the interfaces together (groan).
