My personal favourite is https://iwantmyname.com/ They provide free whois privacy, affordable prices and a clean interface for monitoring domains.
Prefinem · 2014-06-03
I have started using Hover and I love them. Right now I am splitting my domains between hover and https://iwantmyname.com/
joeblau · 2013-10-28
I'm using http://iwantmyname.com for http://gitignore.io and they have been great. They update their DNS records very quickly and I haven't had any problems with their service and right now they are $49.

I have an io domain with no issues. I registered it from https://iwantmyname.com/, which I would recommend.

Linode, Nginx, Jekyll, Git deployment using Gitolite. Workflow to get a static site online: git clone pr0d:www/skeleton-jekyll cd skeleton-jekyll/jekylldocs [... add/edit files here ...] git add . git commit -m "Initial commit." git remote add example pr0d:www/example.com git push example master At this point a hook builds the pages and sets up nginx using a template config (in the same repo), a few seconds later the site is live. Quick, easy, and can be done on any machine with Git and a text editor. As for domains, I love http://iwantmyname.com

Namecheap is a decent registrar, and I'm glad to see they support a free and open internet. But if you want a good registrar: [1] https://iwantmyname.com [2] http://www.gandi.net iwantmyname has a refreshingly clean interface and absolutely no frills. Register a domain (tons of TLDs), set DNS. Done. gandi claims it's a "no bullshit" registrar. More features, like auto-setup of vanity nameservers, but less focused on domains. Both better than all the alternatives. You pay ~$5/year extra for the lack of features (how ironic), but it's well worth it. No intrusive interstitial ads, no sad excuses for DNS managers, no cluttered control panels, and no constant upsell attempts.

We have a lot of ex-pats working in NZ (including my fellow co-founders at iWantMyName). http://iwantmyname.com You need to make a trip down here and get involved in the tech and business networking scene and meet some people. The start-up scene is smaller and more fragmented than in the Valley. You just have to get out and network. I would also recommend reaching out to established companies to begin with. Most "start-ups" here are not venture funded, whereas larger firms are more likely to be seeking talent. UP is an excellent tech community that runs some cool networking events. Also, sign up for the New Zealand StartupDigest. http://up.org.nz/ http://startupdigest.com/

The team at https://iwantmyname.com/ always seemed small and friendly, and they’re based in NZ

I hold domains at nearly all the popular registrars (eggs, one basket, etc.) but https://iwantmyname.com/ is another I want to add to the list. It's not often mentioned but is notable in being one of very few registrars to not attempt upsells to hosting, services, etc. NameCheap irritates me with this practice in particular.

Someone please tell the journalists how to search for domains related to him [1]. Scores are currently available. Using his last name first opens up the coveted .Com [2] [1]: https://iwantmyname.com/?domain=Martinshkreli [2]: https://iwantmyname.com/?domain=shkreliMartin
stephenhuey · 2016-12-06
I've looked at all of those and I prefer this team's simple & straightforward service for registering domains: https://iwantmyname.com
onion2k · 2016-11-18
It's one of the many new top level domains (.ninja anyone? . vodka?). Any decent registrar will register one for you. I can recommend iwantmyname.com, but there's plenty of others. They have a list here: https://iwantmyname.com/domains/new-gtld-domain-extensions
amingilani · 2016-09-28
Just so we're clear. All these domains would just go away? https://iwantmyname.com/?domain=localhost
snsr · 2014-07-30
I've been happy with (and slowly moving domains to) https://www.iwantmyname.com over the past couple of years.
sbussard · 2014-06-03
I really like http://iWantMyName.com because it has a nice UX and gives me straightforward controls over DNS. Also, http://startssl.com give SSL certificates for free and they're accepted by all major browser vendors. It's hard to beat free

Cole with Brace here (http://brace.io). We recommend redirecting the apex domain to a "www" subdomain. Note that even using apex CNAME records (Alias records) are still a new idea, and depending on the implementation may reduce reliability or performance. (https://iwantmyname.com/blog/2014/01/why-alias-type-records-break-the-… Here are a few resources from our blog that explain the www redirect approach: - http://blog.brace.io/2014/01/17/cnames-aliases/#cnameconfig - http://blog.brace.io/2014/01/19/custom-domains-godaddy/ (step 3) (edited: added resources)

http://iwantmyname.com is not as cheap but they provide a bullshit-free service, contrary to most domain peddlers.

I would suggest contacting support at iwantmyname.com I'm not sure if they handle .hu domains, but they do handle most ccTLD's, so if there's a way to do it, they'd know. https://iwantmyname.com/ BIAS: I'm a just a customer of iwantmyname.com for the last two+ years.
TallboyOne · 2012-12-07
They're accredited for 80+ TLD. They also have nice, user-friendly business practices: https://iwantmyname.com/about I love iwantmyname, I buy all my .io names from there.

Switched over to http://iwantmyname.com So happy to get away from GD

Hi, I've made a really simple python script to do this. It's far from complete but you can use it as a sample to start something with your students (http://veed.fr/gugodoc/) Of course, if you need more "power" , your best bet is to choose a more professional solution ;-) I hope you will find something that fits your needs here : http://iwantmyname.com/blog/2011/02/list-static-website-generators.htm… Regards

I just initiated a full transfer to http://iwantmyname.com -- this is the sort of company where the co-founder personally replies to your support tickets.

I've had nothing but good experiences with iWantMyName [1]. My experience with them and GoDaddy has been like night and day. They provide simple, reasonably priced and to the point registration and management. Couldn't be happier with them. [1] http://iwantmyname.com/
fourhourstartup · 2011-02-16
Excellent! Could you add a check for the name as a .com? For example, next to ace.io display "+.com" for available or "x .com" for unavailable. [Edit: I noticed these are checked just once per day. Perhaps add a link to check the .com? As in, ace.io 2011-02-15 (aceio.com?) with aceio.com linked to http://iwantmyname.com/search?domain=aceio.com ]
daniel_levine · 2011-01-07
I'm not affiliated with the company in anyway, but I'm a big fan of http://iwantmyname.com/ for domain registration. Super quick and easy especially if you're using Heroku or GAE. It's depressing how little GoDaddy has innovated and how dominant it still is.
lazyronin · 2010-10-08
http://iwantmyname.com/ has a pretty cool bulk search option. Simple and clean UI too.
