Stemmers tend to cover English and a few Europeanish languages only. For example you can see what snowball covers here [1] while NLTK has some more [2]. [1] https://snowballstem.org/ [2] https://www.nltk.org/api/nltk.stem.html What you may find useful is unidecode that transliterates Unicode to ASCII similar sounds. There are packages available for most programming languages, with the original being on Perl. I highly recommend reading the original article describing how it works. My practical experience is that is fairly good for text searching, producing reasonable results. https://interglacial.com/tpj/22/

It may not be defined, but it can certainly be characterised. Umberto Eco has a good list: http://interglacial.com/pub/text/Umberto_Eco_-_Eternal_Fascism.html Missing from that page is the preamble in which he describes growing up under Mussolini. > Purported "speech" that poses a clear and present danger is illegal. Speech that leads to or implies violence at slightly greater remove is, however. Circulating pictures of targets with people's faces on; calling for violence or that people should arm themselves against an outgroup; that kind of thing.

> We can’t recommend this enough: reuse the same template for all language versions This can get quite tricky, because languages don't easily map onto 1-to-1 items that can be just translated independently and stuck into a template. See the classic "localization horror story": http://interglacial.com/tpj/13/ (and HN discussion: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2095334)

It's a great book! Here's something really cool: ultra-linguist and general bad-ass Sean Burke went through it doing all the examples in ... Javascript! http://interglacial.com/hoj/hoj.html

Obvious objections - JS has no tail call elimination, no macros, and state-changing is managed with entirely different conventions in Scheme. Also the conceit of SICP (not really justified) is that they don't have to teach you syntax, because homoiconicity. Still, I think it's a worthy pursuit to try to bring the insights of this book to a wider audience. Side note: the navigation is really irritating. The back button only works sometimes, because it's replacing content without doing some kind of pushState. So you have to hunt for links. Another side note: Sean Burke and Piers Cawley have ported some of mjd's excellent book Higher-Order Perl to JavaScript. This might be even better, because both Perl and JS have C-like syntax hiding some impressive functional capabilities. I wish someone would finish that, but I guess few people even know about HOP, these days. http://interglacial.com/hoj/hoj.html http://www.bofh.org.uk/2010/11/18/higher-order-javascript

I first heard this idea articulated in Umberto Eco's article on Ur-Fascism or Eternal Fascism [0,1]. First link is the abridged list. The second is a full feature article. From Point #8 "by a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak" [0] http://interglacial.com/pub/text/Umberto_Eco_-_Eternal_Fascism.html [1] https://www.nybooks.com/articles/1995/06/22/ur-fascism/

Consider Eco's writing on Ur-Facism: http://www.interglacial.com/pub/text/Umberto_Eco_-_Eternal_Fascism.htm… and note that the apologia for the Chinese government by the owner of an NBA team focused heavily on point 8 (for example). The CCP has long ago abandoned ideas of collective ownership; China has many very wealthy individuals whose wealth is private.

There's an unofficial companion that has the examples translated to Javascript: http://interglacial.com/hoj/hoj.html Same for Ruby: http://graysoftinc.com/higher-order-ruby

Also see Higher-Order Javascript by Sean M. Burke which is a "JavaScriptish companion" to Mark-Jason Dominus's Higher-Order Perl book - http://interglacial.com/hoj/

http://interglacial.com/javascript_spec/a-8.html The Number type has exactly 18437736874454810627 (that is, 264-253 +3) values, representing the double-precision 64-bit format IEEE 754 values as specified in the IEEE Standard for Binary Floating-Point Arithmetic, except that the 9007199254740990 (that is, 253-2) distinct "Not-a-Number" values of the IEEE Standard are represented in ECMAScript as a single special NaN value.

Reading through Higher-Order JavaScript was practical for me at least: http://interglacial.com/hoj/hoj.html

Also see Eco's "Eternal Fascism: Fourteen Ways of Looking at a Blackshirt".[1] I'd also recommend reading David Neiwert's essays on his blog Orcinus[2], who (more than 15 years ago, long before the rise of Trump, Proud Boys, the alt-right, QAnon, etc) was already extensively discussing Eco's essays and related analysis of fascism and proto-fascism as it manifested in "patriot", militia, and "white nationalist" movements in the US, who Neiwert did extensive investigative reporting on (and published books on this as well). His "The Rise of Pseudo Fascism"[3] and "Rush, Newspeak, and Fascism"[4] are good summaries of his work. Also related are Sinclair Lewis' 1935 "It Can't Happen Here"[5] and Jack London's 1908 "The Iron Heel"[6].
