Congrats! We at Hightouch [0] ("reverse ETL") are excited to see Airbyte here on HN. We've been following Michel & John for a while now since the YC days, and from the outside, it seems like they've been consistently shipping incredibly quickly ever sinec the open-source project launch. @mtricot -- You mention that a big value prop of Airbyte is providing an interface for building custom connectors. Have there been interesting learnings on designing an ideal "interface" to provide developers? How does the interface you provide compare to that of Fivetran's Functions offering [1]? Parent didn't chose the best starting place to illustrate. Typically, reverse ETL starts with "all of my data is already in an EDW" and goes to "I want to push it to my various app systems." Canonical example: pushing system of record information to Salesforce to speed and enrich the sales cycle. https://hightouch.io/blog/reverse-etl/

Basically, reverse ETL, ie get data from the warehouse to operational platforms. The two big players are Census and Hightouch. https://www.getcensus.com/ https://hightouch.io/ Both offer no-code tools to help non-technical users make use of the data.

If you write your data into a data warehouse or clickhouse you could use something like https://hightouch.io/

Hightouch was founded by early engineers at Segment, who saw that the future of data and insights revolves around the data warehouse. We’re backed by leading investors such as Amplify Partners, Bain Capital Ventures, Y-Combinator, and Afore Capital, with a total of 14.2M raised. Great question! We have a whole page about this here (https://hightouch.io/blog/hightouch-vs-census/). But the TLDR is that Hightouch has more developer focused features (like a live debugger, alerting, version control with Git, and more here: https://hightouch.io/data-features/), a dedicated UI for business users to visually filter models (called Hightouch Audiences), more transparent pricing, as well as more integrations (70+) that are also deeper and customized for each tool.

Oh wow, this reminds of Hightouch (https://hightouch.io) and Rudder (https://rudderstack.com). It's interesting that all of these are positioned around data warehouses, which is generally very messy to deal with.

Hightouch user here. HT actually has a lot of that - git integration [0], visual segmentation [1]. Not sure about self-hosting though. Open-source is cool, will check it out. [0]: https://hightouch.io/docs/integrations/git-sync/ [1]: https://hightouch.io/docs/hightouch-audiences/overview/
