Brad has a large collection of excellent articles written to educate on topics [1]. Don't miss the others, there are some real gems. [1] https://garden.bradwoods.io/

Brad Woods has an amazing website dynamically illustrating the concept of "juice", which he defines as "the non-essential visual, audio and haptic effects that enhance the player's experience". There's an example of how you can juice up a simple "delete" button with various levels of UX. I encourage you to play around with it to juice up your own buttons! Can you supply a link please, could not find it. His page is worth looking at, even if it takes a while to load. (edit) nevermind, found it: https://garden.bradwoods.io/notes/problem-solving

Tasteful: https://colly.com/ Artsy: https://anhvn.com/ Simple yet elegant: https://www.lkhrs.com/ and https://arun.is/blog/ Maximalist: https://henry.codes/ and https://garden.bradwoods.io/ and https://blog.maximeheckel.com/ Old-school / indie web: https://ribo.zone/ Text mode / ASCII art: https://adelfaure.net/ Typography: http://davidcole.me/ and https://www.petemillspaugh.com/ I have more. You can keep rolling the dice on https://indieblog.page/random and eventually you'll stumble across some pretty sites. Usually the nicest ones are from frontend / design engineer types of people. EDIT - oh and the sites in the internet phone book! https://internetphonebook.net/ as well as browsing screenshots at https://personalsit.es/

very cool game! needs some juice. https://garden.bradwoods.io/notes/design/juice also, add a leaderboard

Interesting, I came across "juice" in this same sense of relatively subtle UX polish in this article: https://garden.bradwoods.io/notes/design/juice.

I understand the sentiment, but I believe Brad Woods explained it better in https://garden.bradwoods.io/notes/design/juice . Flat design is much more of a blank canvas than old desktop UI toolkits were, but companies are loathe to invest in "Juice" because it requires a level of attention to detail that works against fast iteration.

Related: Juice is the non-essential visual, audio and haptic effects that enhance the player's experience. https://garden.bradwoods.io/notes/design/juice

Recently, https://garden.bradwoods.io/notes/css/blend-modes was linked to, which, using Firefox on Android, takes hundreds of milliseconds to paint the new screen whenever I scroll. I can also notice the behavior on my desktop if I scroll quickly enough, even if I disable JavaScript. So it most likely has to do with an advanced CSS feature, perhaps the blend modes it is showcasing.

when they ask for stuff like that, what they really want is more juice https://garden.bradwoods.io/notes/design/juice "..." is a kind of juice
