This textbook looks really good! Is this finally going to be the year when I learn thermo? All the problems come with answers provided, so I have no excuse!
I found this article[1] by the author[2] that explain their motivation for the book. It has lots of deep insights about the textbook publishing industry and definitely worth a read.

Amazon takes the lion’s share, and then the rest of the pie looks very different depending on which route you go. Big publishers print in batches and have very low print/distribution costs. I ended up on the other end of the spectrum, self-publishing with Lulu (print-on-demand, so much higher costs). I wrote an article in French on exploring the economics of textbooks, from the open-source point of view, a few years back: https://framablog.org/2022/01/20/mais-ou-sont-les-livres-universitaire…

Peertube supports live streams https://framablog.org/2021/01/07/peertube-v3-its-a-live-a-liiiiive/
There is a lag between the source and the audience, maybe it's been improved in the last 4 years though, not sure.

Hey! Just a rando here, but I would be interested in hearing your opinion as to where Peertube does well with this wish list and where it needs improvement.

You can also mirror on PeerTube, https://joinpeertube.org/.
PeerTube is a more distributed clone of YouTube, and this site explains what it is well: https://framablog.org/2019/11/12/peertube-has-worked-twice-as-hard-to-…
Technology used includes a HLS video player, and WebTorrent. Like Mastodon it also uses the ActivityPub protocol.

Even just that image made my day. Probably started as a sketch in someone's notebook, and I'm off to listen to "Bombtrack" now.

The problem is not they ask experts. Politicians are so utterly incompetent on the thing they are putting law on, at the level they will believe openoffice is a firewall[1]. That doesn’t mean all of them are that blatantly unaware of the basics for which they are supposed to decide of some rule, but that is definitely a thing.
The next thing is, do they know how to rely efficiently on a diverse panel of expert, or do they take only yes-man/lobby-funded experts around them?
On a deeper level, are they accountable of the consequences of their actions when they enforce laws which any mildly skilled person in the field could tell will have disastrous side effects and not any meaningful effect on the (supposedly) intended goal?
What we need is direct democracy, where every apt citizen have a duty to actively engage in the rules applied without caste exception.
Let’s protect children, yes. What about making sure not any stay without a shelve to pass the winter[2]? Destroying the right of private conversation except for the caste which decide to impose that for everyone else is the very exact move to offering children a brighter future.

I don't know what bitchute is, never heard of it before.
But peertube is the work of the small french non profit organization and popular education network based on free software framasoft[1].
They are leading the project of de-google-ification of internet[2] by providing free software alternatives to google services and guiding people on how to do it themselves.
The sucess of their initiative lead them to tackle the task of providing an alternative to youtube and that's how peertube came into existence. After successfully funding the first year of development through donations from the french community and showing that peertube works and starts to grow, to be able to continue development towards a 1.0 release they appeal to the global community for funding the project further.[3]

What do you mean by never caught on? It's 'live' at https://joinpeertube.org/ where you can either go to https://joinpeertube.org/browse-content and put something into that search form, or limit that search to specific 'instances' under https://joinpeertube.org/instances
Or to get back to your original question: https://docs.joinpeertube.org/use/create-upload-video
edit: Your'e not limited to these addresses, for one there are other instances, for another you can selfhost your own, if your'e into that.
Technically that is one of many possible solutions, 'ready to roll' right now.
addit: Regarding sustainability, and who is behind it, maybe https://framasoft.org/en/ would be of interest?
