I've been Yak shaving `shite`, my little hotreoadin' static site maker from shell :D
https://github.com/adityaathalye/shite
The README explains all, with words and animated GIFs, but to summarise:
`shite` is a low-performance way to turn heredocs, org-mode text (or md or html), and inotify events into my website (https://evalapply.org). It is about 350 LoC of FP-style Bash. The hotreload does not use javascript. shite is terrible and I love it :)
Rendering heartfelt follicle trimmage to that glorious animal has been an unmitigated delight (except for templating, with sucks universally).
I highly recommend adopting a pet Yak :)
edit: better wording

I think some of the bad outcome may be due to macOS being sneaky with the scrollbar display <https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-appearance-settings-mc… but your style.css for sure isn't helping matters with its overflow: specifications. The tradeoff, as best I can tell, is whether macOS folks get hidden scrollbars (I don't know anything about the zoom complaint, since I'm on desktop) versus omitting the overflow: and having the asciiart clip outside of its bounding box due to some other CSS interaction that I didn't bother to track down

It is seen as inferior work and a necessary theatre to claim quality by finding one possible path through shitty code and sell it as code coverage. See also [0].
Don't get me wrong, there are as many bright people in India as elsewhere, but there was a lot of incentive for foreign companies and indian programmers to pay less, educate less and call it a day.
