E2B (https://e2b.dev) | SF/Bay Area/Prague (CZ)/Europe | full-time | [Platform | Security | Distributed Systems | Systems | Frontend | DevRel] Engineer
At E2B, we're building an open-source computer for AI agents. Imagine you want to run 100k claude codes simultaneously, and all spin up in milliseconds.
We're a Series A startup with 8+ figures of annual revenue. We've raised over $37M and have customers that are both exciting new startups (a lot of companies with billboards around SF are our customers and enterprises. We're scaling fast, hiring all over the place, have 5+ years of runway, and a roadmap full of exciting features to build.
If you like solving hard problems, moving fast, and can excel in a bit of chaos, I'd love to chat. Send me your work to vasek[at]e2b.dev.

Its good, also perplexity, gork some more startups uses E2B. https://e2b.dev/ have you tried this one? E2b also uses firecracker.

E2B is a fast growing Series A startup with 7-figure revenue. We've raised over $32M in total since our funding in 2023 and are supported by great investors like Insight Partners. Our customers are companies like Perplexity, Hugging Face, Manus, or Groq. We're building the next hyperscaler for AI agents.

I didn't know about https://e2b.dev/ but I was looking for something exactly like that. Does anyone know about any self hostable alternatives?

i work on E2B, we are open-source sandbox runtime used by Perplexity, Manus, Hugging Face among others.

You might check out https://e2b.dev, they already have a really robust sandbox system with nice SDKs.

Oh no! Please don't do this. This is one of those tarpit ideas in the "AI" space.
> do not even need to know all the data to perform operations on it or make decisions
If I know code-generation is going to be possible without any contextual information, I might as well generate the code using copilot or Curor and commit my code. Why do I need a runtime agent to do it?
What if the control flow has to change based on a result it receives?
What if the plan up front is wrong and needs to change halfway? Do I run the entire thing again with a new plan? What if my tools are not idempotent?
What if it generates a recursive loop?
Also, if I really want to do this, and if my tools are safe, why don't I just do a raw Open AI / Claude call and get deno subhosting [1] or E2B [2] to run it?

There are a few tools here like e2b and modal. No affiliation.

I’m in the same space, but we run the code that devs already write using LLMs to orchestrate them.

Perhaps https://e2b.dev/ would be a nice place for you to start exploring.

Thanks for sharing this interesting project and approach!
One suggestion for improvement: Add some more info to your website/GitHub about the need for a provider and which providers are compatible. It took me a bit to figure that out because there was no prominent info about it. Additionally, none of the demos showed a login or authentication part. To me, it seemed like the VMs just came out of nowhere. So at first, I thought "Cloudrouter" was a project/company that gave away free VMs/GPUs (e.g. free tier/trial thing). But that seemed too good to be true. Later, I noticed the e2b.app domain and also then found the note at the bottom of the site that says "Provider selection -> Use E2B provider (default)". Then I got it. However, I should mention that I don't know much about this whole topic. I hadn't heard of E2B or Modal before. Other people might find it more clear.
For those that are wondering about this too, you will need to use a provider like https://e2b.dev/ or https://modal.com/ to use this skill, and you pay them based on usage time.

It appears that e2b runs Firecracker microVMs (https://e2b.dev/blog/how-manus-uses-e2b-to-provide-agents-with-virtual…
It shouldn't be too hard to get a Firecracker orchestrator running locally - the articles here were very helpful when I was doing this myself: https://jvns.ca/blog/2021/01/23/firecracker--start-a-vm-in-less-than-a…

From https://e2b.dev/blog/firecracker-vs-qemu
> AWS built [Firecracker (which is built on KVM)] to power Lambda and Fargate [2], where they need to quickly spin up isolated environments for running customer code. Companies like E2B use Firecracker to run AI generated code securily in the cloud, while Fly.io uses it to run lightweight container-like VMs at the edge [4, 5].
