On DreamHost right now. Went down a few times, but not a big deal - uptime for my server has been crystal the past few months.
You'll hear that "DreamHost sucks" all the time. Keep in mind that they host around 700,000 domains, and operate thousands of servers, so there will be an inevidably huge amount of people complaining. (Of course, people don't usually rant about how great the service is, so that gets lost in the noise.)
The fact that they're a lot more transparent (http://www.dreamhoststatus.com) than a lot of providers is good, but only makes people complain more (The thinking is: 'It went down! I must complain about the service being terrible.' rather than with traditional hosting providers, where you probably weren't aware of the downtime, unless if you personally experienced it.)
My suggestion: if it's not mission-critical, DreamHost is a good, very reasonably priced choice.

This is standard operating procedure for many companies in the VPS and server market. It's to ensure that they can keep customers updated even if all of their infrastructure goes down. Some companies take it a step further and put their status page on a completely separate domain, e.g. DreamHost's http://www.dreamhoststatus.com

He's using WordPress 3.2.1 which is the current stable release but regardless the theme he is using has the following malicious iframe being called in the top of the template:
<iframe src="http://d22cjhny6e.co.TLD/?go=1 width="1" height="1"></iframe>
(with the TLD being the country code for Tuvalu)
Potentially the theme he downloaded always had that iframe or alternatively an attacker has gained access to his WordPress theme directory (or otherwise found a way to inject it). Luckily maintaining the security of a DreamHost shared Apache server (apache2-ogle.baghdad.dreamhost.com) is probably not necessary for an IT position. Additionally, it is possibly DreamHost's fault, as it has been in the past [1, 2].

Now I know downtime is normal for a host. Yes, even Google.
But when you visit the homepage of their status-blog[1], don't you think that's a bit too many updates a little too frequently?
Or should we commend Dreamhost on being super-transparent in their network/uptime issues?

I just got the email from Dreamhost at about 3:30AM EST. I checked out their status blog and found something interesting: over the past month a good number of people have had malicious .htaccess files and scripts inserted into their Wordpress installs. That would include me.
About a month ago one of my Dreamhost sites was hacked. An .htaccess file was modified to insert some PHP scripts that provided a backdoor to the site and that also embedded ads. I see now that I'm not the only one who has had this problem. When I reported this at the time I submitted as much information as possible but only got a canned, autogenerated response. Dreamhost ran an automatic scan on my site and IIRC it did pick up the offending file, but by the time that had been done I had already found it. The particular backdoor was c99shell.I. As I've read more comments, people have had .htaccess files modified who weren't using Wordpress, so it's not a Wordpress problem.
This leads me to ask: Is this compromise related to the hacks that I and other users have experienced? If so, how long has the password database been compromised?
Thankfully I use GMail for email, so at least that level of personal information wasn't stored on their servers. But this makes me wonder just how long someone has had free reign to access many Dreamhost accounts.
Needless to say, I will be switching hosts and will never recommend Dreamhost again. I guess you get what you pay for, and if I had been able to speak with an…

Sure, but DreamHost recovered fully within 12 hours [1], Cloudflare took almost 2 days [2]

Add this one, their US-East-1 cloud zone has been down for 24 hours now. My instances are in limbo where no option to just move them to another zone.

Keep in mind that they don't allow unlimited private backups (they allow 50GB of backups store in a special backup user account), the data you store there is supposed to be web accessible.

I think Dreamhost is fine as long as your comfortable with their limitations. Limitations like their backup server being down for over a month.
