You mean... the economy with the highest developer salaries on the planet?[1] Or the one that has the world's largest startup economy? Or the one that has almost all of the world's top 20 companies by market cap? [1]https://codesubmit.io/blog/software-engineer-salary-by-country/

https://codesubmit.io/blog/software-engineer-salary-by-country/ $110,140 is pretty damn good for a job you can do from home in an office, with minimal physical risk. If you can't put together $80k in savings after a decade or so on a salary like that, you have a spending problem.

The U.K. is certainly not a bad place to end up. Tech wages are higher in Denmark (https://codesubmit.io/blog/software-engineer-salary-by-country/) but you're right: the taxes are also higher. I still strongly disagree with the notion that tech is dead in Denmark. Me and hundreds of colleagues are all very happy with the tech wages in our company. I mean, Denmark is a much smaller country than the U.K., so in an absolute sense, there are certainly more tech opportunities in a country with 10x as many people.

> Assuming profit would be in the $80-90k range, that's multiples lower than what a developer could make in a job HN really lives in a bubble. $90k USD per year is more than double the median income in the highest earning countries in the world [0]. There are very few places in the world you could not live extremely comfortably on that income. Even for software engineering specifically, there are only two countries where the median is > $90k USD.
