This is an ad for ZenMetrics, which isn't available yet, so I'll throw my company's hat in the ring as well. Amongst other things, Cloudability [1] does cost monitoring and reporting, proactive budget alerting, advanced rightsizing and reserved instance recommendation, and anomaly detection and alerting. It works across AWS, Azure and GCP, and it's available right now from the AWS marketplace. There are also other tools that do this sort of thing. Stax.io has their Spotlight tool, Cloud Conformity does some as well, and Microsoft still maintains Cloudyn as Azure Cost Management. [1] https://www.cloudability.com

I've recently had to consolidate three separate AWS accounts, after checking out https://cloudability.com/ and http://cloudvertical.com . We ended out using CloudVertical. CloudVertical gives us the ability to tag different parts of your bill and get e-mail alerts on price spikes. It's been a very useful tool for our account manager to plan budgets and for the team to keep an eye on a few expensive AWS experiments. Really love the CloudVertical e-mail reports, I would recommend checking them out.

They’re literally entire companies of 100+ employees selling a product that helps you figure out how much money you’re spending on AWS https://www.cloudability.com/

Similar idea to rolling your own, my company uses Cloudability for AWS purchase planning. It saved a bunch of money as far as I remember. https://www.cloudability.com/

Would using something like http://cloudcheckr.com/ or https://www.cloudability.com/ have worked, too?

http://cloudcheckr.com/ https://www.cloudability.com/ And there is a 3rd competing tool that I can't seem to remember the name.

Ugh, that sucks. Too late to help you now (but perhaps others) on your billing alerts points: check out http://cloudability.com -- alerts, analytics, prediction, suggestions, etc. Free for the most useful stuff.

I suggest the OP check out Cloudability[1], which provides realtime cost management for AWS and other cloud providers. We help over 10,000 customers make sure this doesn't happen to them. (disclosure: I work there) [1]: https://cloudability.com/

While it looks beautiful, this is kind of a silly infographic. The data has been collected from https://cloudability.com/, a company that helps you track multiple cloud costs. Why would you be using cloudability if you werent tracking multiple clouds? Thats the whole point of their product.
igorsyl · 2012-04-25
Try http://cloudability.com to keep track of your cloud costs. Note: I am not affiliated with them.
grammr · 2011-12-15
Check out https://www.cloudability.com/. They have all sorts of cost monitoring and analysis tools for popular cloud providers.

Because the list is so long, and a bunch of the cons mention cost, I'm going to flog my friend's company, Cloudability (http://cloudability.com). They help you track and control your cloud spending and they're an AWS solutions provider. There are only three of us at Stayhound (http://stayhound.com), so our list is pretty short: Mockflow for creating and sharing flows and wireframes MailChimp Google docs & calendar Gmail IM Google+ hangouts for team video conferencing Trello for task management Capsule CMS Github Google AppEngine And we're in the process of considering a move to AWS.

We don't currently support hard limits, but we've partnered with Cloudability, which lets you set budget alerts: https://cloudability.com/rackspace/

Why do you consider yourself not good enough to work there? I don't know you, but I find that most developers that say that do just fine. Oh yeah, we're hiring too: https://cloudability.com/jobs/
