There are similar¹𝄒²𝄒³ ideas for Mastodon / ActivityPub:

I use Mastodon for comments on one of my sites using a slightly modified version of the code featured here: https://carlschwan.eu/2020/12/29/adding-comments-to-your-static-blog-w…
As the site is focused on a single topic, I almost always tag a related Lemmy community in the Mastodon post, so it gets comments from there too. Federation is cool.

I haven't tried them on my own blog yet, but on blogs I read, both the Bluesky comments you linked and this mastodon comment system:

have been pleasant.

People have been doing this with ActivityPub/Mastodon for years: https://carlschwan.eu/2020/12/29/adding-comments-to-your-static-blog-w…

There is effort to multiple concurrent efforts to update the breeze style:
Mine is here which is still quite WIP https://carlschwan.eu/2023/12/19/announcing-brise-theme/
And there is another one for icons https://anditosan.wordpress.com/2023/12/30/breeze-icons-update/

A somewhat related solution for comments is to piggyback on the Mastodon ecosystem, which I really like: https://carlschwan.eu/2020/12/29/adding-comments-to-your-static-blog-w…
