cachyOS - https://cachyos.org/ I've absolutely loved switching from Manjaro to this. when it comes to giving out encryption keys, the answer should always be 'we don't have them.' 'you can't get them.' Sad day for privacy at Microsoft.

https://cachyos.org/ The fastest GNU/Linux distribution available. Amazing set of patches, optimizations and specific device fixes. The community regularly finds performance regressions in the latest versions of packages and reports them upstream. Remember the NVIDIA explicit sync flickering issues? CachyOS had pushed the fixed driver before anyone else.

I have been using https://cachyos.org/ with the "Handheld" build with great success for the last 3 months. Best of both worlds, Arch Linux for work and Steam for gaming (as long as the game is Steam Deck compatible).

They are excellent. I have a few of these with Intel Core i5-7500t and Core i7-7700t (both 35W TDP), with either 65W or 90W powerbricks, each with 32GB and varying SSDs. Excellent because of the quality of their BIOS/Firmware. You can throw anything at them, and it just runs without errors. Even most exotic stuff like https://genode.org , not to speak of any *BSD, Solaris-derivative, or some Linux. Suspend to RAM, and successfully waking up from that works every single time, without special setup, no matter where and what. Hibernation/Suspend to disk is up to you and the setup, but no problems there, either. Rock solid experience even with the 'most riced' kernels and userland by https://cachyos.org running Plasma/KDE on 'oh noez! BTRFS!1!1!!' If the number of ports and their speed is enough, they are good for homelabbing and even casual desktop-use. Expansion not so much, except via USB3. (5Gb/s only) I know nothing about later models, but these are more than enough for my uses. Very stress free.

CachyOS is also an Arch based distro with a GUI installer including multiple desktop options, such as Gnome, KDE Plasma, but also preconfigured Hyprland or Niri with a Waybar, Alacritty and a spotlight-esque application launcher. I'm currently dual booting Windows & CachyOS with Niri and installation was incredibly smooth, including setting up secure boot or playing Windows games. https://cachyos.org/

I've never heard of CachyOS before. It's based on Arch Linux. Here's the website: https://cachyos.org/

Try CachyOS https://cachyos.org/ , you can even swap from an existing Arch installation: https://wiki-dev.cachyos.org/sk/cachyos_repositories/how_to_add_cachyo…

Latest mention is over a year old[0]. This situation invited third parties to release unofficial Arch derivatives built for x86-64-v3[1], splitting the community. 0. https://lists.archlinux.org/hyperkitty/list/[email protected]… 1. https://cachyos.org/

The Arch derivative CachyOS[1] has ZFS-enabled kernels by default. And their repos can be added to existing Arch installs[2], so I've found this a nice way of working around the non-ideal state of ZFS integration in Arch. (Plus their kernel choices have other interesting features.) [1]: https://cachyos.org/ [2]: https://github.com/CachyOS/linux-cachyos#cachyos-repositories

https://cachyos.org/ Arch based kde distro that has has an easy installer, looks really pretty and is well put togther and has packages compiled for the latest instruction set so I get a 15-30% performance boost without having to change hardware. Just a really well put together linux distro with all the benefits of arch (bleeding edge and most things available as packages or in the aur), plus a few extras.

OP here: The README.md assumes the reader knows what CachyOS and Omarchy are. A quick primer for those who are coming to this fresh... - CachyOS is an Arch-based Linux distribution with built-in performance optimizations tuned to high end computing and gaming. See more at https://cachyos.org - Omarchy is a Hyprland-based "desktop" crafted by DHH that is slowly turning into its own distribution, also based on Arch. See more at https://omarchy.org Why would you want to use this instead of vanilla CachyOS? You want to use Hyprland and want a very strong starting configuration. CachyOS includes its own configuration of Hyprland, but I find it's pretty anemic. There are other pre-packaged Hyprland "spins" to try as well, including MyLinux4Work ands JaKoolit. I've found Omarchy to be the most refined. If you have no interest in Hyprland, neither this script nor Omarchy are for you. Why would you want to use this instead of vanilla Omarchy? You prefer CachyOS's defaults and/or enhancements to vanilla Arch, or you do not like all of the out-of-the-box decisions Omarchy makes via its auto-install of Vanilla arch (such as LUKS disk encryption or the enforcement of a single user login.)

Long-time Windows user here that made the jump from Windows 11+WSL to Linux a few months ago. After test driving a few distros, I settled on CachyOS (an Arch-based distro)[1]. Performance wise it's smooth as heck, and Geekbench scores show it performing better than Win11 across the board. The default install uses KDE Plasma for its desktop, which is a perfect fit for Windows users like myself in terms of UX/UI. For an alternative to MS Office, I've been using OnlyOffice[2] with no compatibility issues yet (though I am only a casual user and not a hardcore Word/Excel user). I reinstalled Win11 last week to confirm whether or not I was experiencing bias, and there was noticeable feeling of "lag" when using Win11 compared to CachyOS (this test was with the latest Win drivers and patches on relatively recent Thinkpad hardware). I went back to Cachy with no hesitation after that. [1] https://cachyos.org/ [2] https://www.onlyoffice.com/

> there are people who want to avoid distributions made by Russians Well, racism / citizenship-based discrimination is a thing, yes. > Are builds reproducible? A valid question, but what does that have to do with the ethnic background or citizenship of the distro makers? > Where do these people reside? It seems their team is from all sorts of places, although it doesn't exactly say where in the world each of them is located: https://cachyos.org/about/
