I've never been a fan of Facebooks behavior and attitude toward users. I signed up for an account a while back mainly to make it harder for anyone else to 'be' me. I watched as the privacy continually eroded. ( an excellent 2010 chart here: http://www.broadstuff.com/archives/2196-Facebooks-Privacy-Erosion-Stra… )
I've been forced to sort out privacy snafus several times over the years, as they added new on-by-default options that I don't want.
I think it's time to leave.

This is a great observation and something I haven't really seen put this way. It immediate reminded me of this graph

I suspect it has something to do with the tremendous technological advances made post WWII. With "techology" being the curve. Or perhaps some more abstract thing on the curve.

In my experience, the mom blogs are probably the most active (and interesting) part of the blogosphere.
I think this whole gender is wildly underserved, but especially mothers with kids 18 and under...there's huge money to be made building services/communites around these specific needs. BlogHer, etc, is good but just the tip of the iceberg.

Another similar demo is teachers. Trying to "reinvent education" is great but the the meantime millions of teachers and millions more students are underserved and struggling.

Regarding hirind "quants," I think it's a hit or miss. Quant's are good for throwing numbers through a spreadsheet all day (literally); however, the great ones see the big picture in what they're doing. Most don't.
You may want to look for more, "right-brain thinkers."

The url isn't loading for me, and I can't seem to find a cache of it. Is the url supposed to look like this?

This is essentially the same as http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=218496 (without the login needed for those who don't want to sign-up with another site)
...and some reasoning is explained at http://broadstuff.com/archives/1031-Why-would-Associated-Press-wish-to…
