Since you mention both Python and webdev, check out https://github.com/alexmojaki/futurecoder (100% free and interactive Python course for beginners) From an interview (https://www.blog.pythonlibrary.org/2021/12/13/pydev-of-the-week-alex-h… with Alex Hall: >A challenge I'm struggling with is making the site look good...I'm struggling to find people to help me build futurecoder further

> I don't think you'd use Pycopy to write a desktop or cloud application Believe it or not, but that's one of the messages the Pycopy project tries to convey: Software can be simple. And understandable. And you really can write a useful (at least to yourself) application which can run both on your desktop, on your router with 2MB memory, on a microcontroller board, or in a cloud. Some more info about this "human-scale computing" idea is here: https://www.blog.pythonlibrary.org/2020/02/10/pydev-of-the-week-paul-s… .

Non-canvas fingerprinting summary: http://www.blog.pythonlibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/econo_cha… I found the data points coarse (x = 5 years) but useful to see similar trends of popularity between C, Javascript, and Python. Note: these metrics are defined by global search engine popularity.

I was thinking more of getting replies to the question from HN users, based on their personal experience, since I know a lot of us here use Python. I've been doing something like what you say, earlier, for a while, but with the PyDev of the Week series of posts as the source [1]. Mike Driscoll usually asks the same question (as I did here) to each interviewee, and I've picked up a few good Python libraries from that. But it's a good suggestion, I'll check out the Talk Python podcast for similar info - thanks. [1] https://www.blog.pythonlibrary.org/category/pydevoftheweek/
