Howdy y’all! Eleventy maintainer and member of Font Awesome here. Just saw this (I don’t regularly read HN).
Looks like someone shared the staging URL for the old FA WordPress blog on HN? I’ve updated the WordPress staging site to redirect to the new Build Awesome/Eleventy version at blog.fontawesome.com so that it doesn’t happen again. Sorry about that! You can read about the 2025 dogfood migration here: https://blog.fontawesome.com/blog-awesome-to-11ty/

This. Totally confusing. Sounded like a very successful campaign, met goal. Why is the rest of that blog post (https://blog.fontawesome.com/pausing-kickstarter/) so negative and like it's a big disappointment? Like Font Awesome was expecting some lengthy constantly growing source of income from it? So weird. (and also, first I'm seeing anything about this or given any reason to pay attention to what Font Awesome is doing despite being a regular user of 11ty and involved with its small ecosystem for years)
And if '11ty devs' aren't big fans of the change etc, then who was rushing to support the Kickstarter? Who's funding this (and why?)

From March, also https://blog.fontawesome.com/we-have-a-99-email-reputation-gmail-disag… is the canonical URL.

> Why is this blog on a sudomain of wpcomstaging.com?
I find it ironic that they "acquired" Eleventy and are developing Build Awesome Pro [1], but can't bring themselves to dogfood it.
They do have an alpha version of it, right?

Also note, Shoelace was built by a Microsoft engineer, Cory LaViska. He left to work on Shoelace full-time[0] after it was acquired by FontAwesome.

Cory (the creator) actually works at FontAwesome now. FontAwesome purchased the library ~1yr ago and hired Cory to work on the library full time as well.
