You are right, but the end of that article alluded to a bit of an interchangeability. > They're adding support in the next few weeks for Google Authenticator tokens to their system as well. That way you can use Authy's great UI to access your Google codes through one app. So I got looking, and it looks like now you can always use Authy for google authenticator tokens [1]. http://blog.authy.com/authenticator

It enables http://blog.authy.com/multi-device , which is either very handy or stupid depending on how paranoid you are.

If you can, export the secrets from the phone and import them on the new device. Of course, if the phone isn't rooted, that might be difficult. Authy offers a cloud backup service, where they encrypt the secrets with a key derived from your password. They use PBKDF2 with only 1000 rounds, so pick a very high entropy password. http://blog.authy.com/backups

Timo from iwantmyname here. It's certainly something we are aware of and multiple logins are planned. We are using Authy as two-factor authentication service provider and they allow you to use multiple devices: http://blog.authy.com/multi-device

Hi, I'm Daniel, Authy Founder. We've worked almost 18 months on this product, it's surreal to finally see it out. Anyway, you can read more about why we did this here: http://blog.authy.com/thefuture
